37 people were illegally detained in Bellingham, Washington for the ‘crime’ of speaking Spanish. This is so fucking inhumane and cruel

⬆️ racial unity now is matching funds for the detainees and their families. please help if you can.

it's shameful how long i had to look to find an article covering this story that gives more information besides saying "37 undocumented workers were arrested wednesday." cascadia news and the AP were the only sources i found that include any journalism whatsoever beyond the police report.

Hey, this is local for me. It would mean a lot if you could help out even a little bit.

it's really fucked up that because of the AI Hayao Miyazaki won't be able to sit down and animate all those movies anymore, because the machine will do it and give all the credit for his singular hard work to some guy at the top who didn't even animate anything

OP: *posts a meme in portuguese that has several english loanwords in it and also features a clear illustration of what the meme is describing*

a bunch of american tumblr users who never learned how to stop being annoying: i don't even understand spanish but this meme transcends language!

“In his dreadful lassitude and objectless rage, Cobain seemed to have give wearied voice to the despondency of the generation that had come after history, whose every move was anticipated, tracked, bought and sold before it had even happened. Cobain knew he was just another piece of spectacle, that nothing runs better on MTV than a protest against MTV; knew that his every move was a cliché scripted in advance, knew that even realising it is a cliché. The impasse that paralysed Cobain in precisely the one that Fredric Jameson described: like postmodern culture in general, Cobain found himself in ‘a world in which stylistic innovation is no longer possible, where all that is left is to imitate dead styles in the imaginary museum’.”
