I've been shadow banned off Tumblr, so I took my blog with me ...
I'm not leaving the internet, just Tumblr. I'll explain more below but if you want to follow where I'm going, you can use one of these links:
Transfem.Social: https://transfem.social/@talisidekick
If you're wondering what happened, then let me explain. Tumblr "Shadow Banned" my account. That is:
- If I posted anything it wouldn't show up in anyones notifications,
- if I reblogged someones post the OP and anyone checking reblogs wouldn't see that I had,
- if I made a comment it would show us as "This Comment is Unavailable" and would censor out my PfP and prevent anyone from clicking through to my account,
- and my account was unreachable unless you were a follower or had a direct link to my account already saved.
So, since a number of you were reblogging my more prominent posts, I went ahead and deleted EVERY post off my blog so the only post is this one. I'm a Canadian transgender woman, my name is Talia, I go by Tali Sidekick, and I've been effectively silenced on Tumblr without any prior notice or reason given by Tumblr staff either through the site or by email. I've turned off Comments, Blazing, and I've effectively made it so only this post can be seen or shared.
If you enjoyed my post about my Pharmacists taking my deadname, my post about the kind woman in the doctors office while I was wearing catears, or any other activism-related or advice-related post I made over the years, you'll no longer find it here. I won't let Tumblr silence me and still make money off of the viewership that my content brings and brought to Tumblr. I won't let them make a single cent off me if this is how they're going to treat me just because I'm trans.
I abided by the Terms of Service and their code of conduct requirements that made up the agreement of what I could and couldn't post on Tumblr, and tailored my behaviour to fit inside their expectations for allowing me to post on their platform, and while I held up my end of that contract, Tumblr saw fit to break their end. I've been cut off from the community I attempted to make around my blog, so moving forward, I will be continuing my presence online and sharing any work I make on other platforms that will uphold their end of the agreement we make.
I'm keeping the namespace on Tumblr as it shares direct likeness to my other accounts, even using my PfP which contains my own face. This is being done so Transphobes, TERFs, Bigots, and other bad actors who would use my account and my previous posting history to mislead others and besmirch, libel, or slander my name, may not.
Even if Tumblr makes my account public again, I will not be returning. This isn't the first time they've targeted transgender women for just being on the platform. If you're reading this, it's time to realize that Tumblr is not the bastion of 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusivity it once strived to be. It's removing us off the platform. You can't spell Community without the 'T'. None of us are free until all of us are, and it would seem I'm not free to remain on this platform publicly.
