On Friday night, President Trump signed an executive order calling for the elimination of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)—the nation’s only federal agency that provides funds for America’s libraries. Americans have loved and relied on public, school, and academic libraries for generations. By eliminating the only federal agency dedicated to funding library services, the Trump Administration’s executive order is cutting off at the knees the most beloved and trusted of American institutions and the staff and services they offer, including early literacy development, summer reading programs for kids, high-speed internet access, employment assistance for job seekers, braille and talking books for people with visual impairments, and so much more.

What Can You Do?

As library lovers, your voice can make a difference. Here’s how you can help:

  1. Contact your representatives in Congress and tell them to protect our libraries. Our elected officials need to hear why we value our libraries. Share a story of how your library as helped you, and let them know that federal funding is essential for your library to continue providing the essential services that support our communities. Tell them to protect funding for IMLS!
  2. Show up for your library at library and school board meetings and town halls with your elected officials. Now is the time to raise our voices as loud as we can to protect libraries.
  3. Become a supporter of the American Library Association. Your support helps us advocate on behalf of libraries and library workers everywhere and fight for library funding.

Trump’s golf course in Turnberry, Scotland was vandalized overnight by Palestine solidarity activists.

The graffiti in the first picture says "Trump is a CUNT", for those annoyed by unnecessary blurring

A bit late to the party, but eyyyy, Scotland!!! Y'all are alright👍

With everything going on, as a genderqueer person that does not look like the sex they were born as. If you need to renew your drivers license, if you need to renew your passport, if you are doing anything that requires a certified copy of your birth certificate OR your social security card GET A CERTIFIED COPY OF EACH OF THESE BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE.

There are people saying that their documents are being held when they go to apply for a new passport or to renew their passport. Originally this was only going to happen to folks changing/trying to change/having already changed their gender marker to X. It is now affecting genderqueer folk indiscriminately by those reporting their experiences.

I had an appointment upcoming, I called my local USPS, they said they had no information on this, and told me to call my State Department to ask them for verification.

What I do have experience with, however, is my driver's license expiring this year, and the DMV saying I am not eligible renew online. So I call and ask to get to the bottom of why. After being on hold for 20 minutes, the lady comes back to say she does not know why, she cannot see why, and that I will have to go to the DMV with my birth certificate, social security card, and my ID.

These are the same documents being held when getting passports.

Get CERTIFIED copies now.

This is not to fear monger. This is not to spread misinformation on purpose. I can only share my personal experience, and the personal experiences of others. I very well could be over reacting and I hope that I am just being paranoid. However, the Jewish people that were placed in camps were considered criminals as they were no longer considered citizens of Germany.

This administration has just told ICE to they can detain anyone they believe is not a US citizen. If you do not have these documents, this is about to be a whole lot harder to prove.

The green light has been put through to build a building in Guantanamo Bay that can house 30,000 people. If you have not read up on what ICE officers call "segregation" cells within detention centers, or who/what groups of people are commonly placed in these "segregation" cells, please educate yourself on it. I shared photos of a post that spoke on these as well as went over why this is in fact believed to be the start of the American Holocaust.

I am not saying this is exactly what they are doing. Please take this post with a grain of salt. I am simply seeing a pattern and a logical set of steps that this administration COULD use to remove those humans they deem 'undesirable'.

Just, as an added precaution during everything going on. Please get copies of these documents. Now.

If you need help on figuring out how to do so, I will try my best to help you.

I love you, friends.

Stay safe.

Go throw tomatoes.

10 Commandments in Classroom Bill TX

For those who think this bill is too extreme to get passed in the Senate, remember that two adjacent states, Oklahoma and Louisiana, just passed similar bills. There is reason to worry for ALL Americans, not just Texans. As a state, Texas holds a lot of power, and therefore a lot of influence in this country.

In enacted, Texas Senate Bill 10 would mandate that all public elementary and secondary schools display a poster of the 10 Commandments in each classroom. Even if you are Christian, I hope to God you can understand why this is a bad idea, if ONLY for the fact that it violates our country's ideal of separation between church and state. This isn't impartial instruction of classical literature, it's indoctrination. The Government has no right to push ANY religion in our public schools; that is a very personal and, when that young, often a family matter. Kids can be taught murder=bad without also being taught "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

Anyone wanting to help combat this bill, please contact your local Senator(s) requesting that they oppose the bill. IF YOU'RE FROM OUT OF STATE and want to help, just contact any Texas district Senator.

Use this link to find your district Senator. Once you've found them, when you click on their name it will take you to a page with their information, including email and phone number: The Texas State Senate – Members of the Texas Senate

When contacting a senator, whether calling or sending a message, just lay out your request and your concerns. Keep it respectful, and don't worry about going into detail if you don't have the time. Even a one sentence request is better than nothing.

Free North Korean Picture Book

I know this doesn't have much to do with politics in the USA, but I think it's still important to remember our various neighbors across the globe as well.

This short book is about some favorite childhood memories of Harry Kim, who escaped North Korea as a teenager, trying to give people a perspective on North Korea they don't normally see covered in the media.

The organization Harry is working with, LiNK (Liberty in North Korea), is a wonderful nonprofit dedicated to helping North Korean refugees escape to and build new lives in South Korea or the USA. They strongly advocate for highlighting the people of North Korea rather than the regime, which can be seen through their motto "People Over Politics." They're amazing, and I'd highly recommend checking them out!

Reminder that YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO CONTACT YOUR SENATORS AND HOUSE MEMBERS!!! If you look up their name they will most definitely have a way for you to contact them about any issue you wish. Personally i just contacted both of my senators advising them to vote against the SAVE bill going through congress right now, and you can do that.

what if i’m a minor? so am I! i can still contact them!

what if they aren’t my same political party? well they have to suck it up because it’s literally their job to keep you happy

what if i can’t find it? trust me you aren’t looking hard enough

contact your senator and be a responsible citizen.

good reminders

Oppose H.R. 32: The No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act

H.R. 32, the No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act, is an extreme Republican attempt to punish cities and states that refuse to act as ICE’s personal deputies. This bill would strip federal funding from cities and states that won’t assist with mass deportations—including funding for school meals, public transit, disaster relief, and public health programs.

This bill is part of a broader push by anti-immigrant lawmakers to penalize “sanctuary cities”—jurisdictions that have policies limiting cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. Sanctuary policies are designed to build trust between immigrant communities and local law enforcement, making cities safer by encouraging crime reporting and cooperation with police.

Stripping vital funding over immigration policy is reckless, cruel, and legally dubious. This bill ignores the 10th Amendment, which protects states and cities from federal overreach. Courts have repeatedly ruled that the federal government cannot force states to carry out federal policies, yet this bill seeks to undermine that precedent.

Call your representatives and demand they vote NO on H.R. 32 to protect immigrant communities, local decision-making, and essential public services.

Keep the US Postal Service Independent

Trump is planning to take control of the United States Postal Service after firing the entire Postal Board and placing the agency under the control of the Commerce Department. The Postal Board of Governors cannot be legally dismissed without cause, and Trump’s attempt to override the system is an illegal takeover that threatens mail-in voting, veterans’ jobs, and the public’s ability to receive affordable mail service. This comes just days after Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced his resignation following five controversial years at the agency. The USPS is mandated to provide affordable service to every zip code, but privatization could result in significant price hikes, post office closures, and slower mail—especially in rural areas.

Beyond delivering mail, USPS is also one of the largest employers in the country, with over 635,000 workers—including nearly 100,000 military members and veterans in its workforce. Privatization would put these jobs at risk.

Congress must act now to prevent this blatant power grab and ensure the USPS remains independent, affordable, and accessible to all Americans.

Texas House Bill to restrict Trans healthcare for ADULTS

IMPACTS: THE TRANS COMMUNITY, ANYONE REQUIRING GENDER RELATED HEALTHCARE

The above link leads to a bill introduced on Feb 26, 2025 proposing to edit a section of the Health & Safety Code banning gender affirming health care from children under 10, to include ANYONE, including adults, which is BLATANTLY unconstitutional, and sets a dangerous precedent.

Anyone wanting to help combat this bill, PLEASE contact your local House representative and/or Brent Money (the author of the bill) requesting that they withdraw (if Brent Money) or vote against the bill. If you're from out of state and want to help, just contact any Texas House Representative.

House and Senate Bills by state

Since there are so many bills to go through, I've decided that instead of addressing them individually, I'm going to start making lists of noteworthy bills by state, beginning with the red states since those are the places likely to be affected by the Trump Administration's agenda more immediately. I'll also do a list of federal bills as well early on.

However, I would like to encourage everyone to look up your state's legislature in your own time as well, regardless of your state's political orientation, as well as the US legislature. I get that not everyone has the time, but if you do, it could be very beneficial. Knowing what issues are being brought forward can help keep you from getting caught off guard and gives you more time to get involved with actively supporting or opposing bills you care about.

For those who aren't familiar with the US legislative process, here's an informative little video:

Senate Bill 593 (on sexually explicit material, Oklahoma)

Effects anyone who creates, distributes, or possesses sexually explicit material of any format in Oklahoma

This proposed bill in Oklahoma discusses the penalty for crimes of creating or possessing unlawful pornography. It increases the penalty for distributing cp, but ALSO expands the definition of unlawful pornography to incriminate ANY material of explicit sexual nature, excluding content shared between spouses and material deemed to possess "literary, artistic, educational, political, or scientific value."
