Thinking about how people think about what they think

@tallerthantale

Transqueer. He / They I will write very long discussion posts I will often discuss NSFW topics

Hey i’m a fashion design student so i have tons and tons of pdfs and docs with basic sewing techniques, pattern how-tos, and resources for fabric and trims. I’ve compiled it all into a shareable folder for anyone who wants to look into sewing and making their own clothing. I’ll be adding to this folder whenever i come across new resources

Updated just now with new hand sewing resources (mainly buttonholes) and textbook pdfs on fashion history, fashion illustration, and thinking through designs!

OP I owe you my life

OP you are the greatest person currently in my life. You beautiful, thoughtful creature.

"how can m/f ships be good-" first of all through the power of bisexuality anything is possible so write that down. second of all if we start othering ships based on gender and nothing else we're no better than the opposition. third of all you need to watch more addams family

straight people are so fascinating even when they aren't actively trying to be homophobic. I had a class a few years ago where one assignment was to summarize some eighth century arabic poetry about going out for drinks with the lads before indulging in some gay sex and like half the class came in and said "I'm sorry idk what was happening in this one, they mention having sex with a servant but they also say the servant's a man? where'd the woman come from? I'm so confused." and a few days ago in a shakespeare class I made a comment about how cleopatra and octavius caesar are kind of parallel characters in possessively bartering for mark antony's attention and one of my classmates responded as though I'd been talking about octavia and not caesar, despite the fact that I said "caesar" and "him" multiple times while describing the actions he specifically took. fully incapable of comprehending of anything that's even a little bit gay.

It's frustrating that you can come up with the plot of an entire fic in just a few seconds, but writing it all down can take anywhere from never to forever.

This makes me weepy for so many reasons:

1. There’s a kid out there already thinking of inclusivity at such a young age.

2. There’s a blind boy who feels more seen and loved and part of his class.

3. The tenderness and consideration that the mom put into creating the special heartfelt felt heart (see what I did there?) for the classmate is so apparent.

4. That boy’s parents must have bawled seeing the valentine their son came home with and knowing that he’s being included and welcomed by his peers.

There's good in this world, Mister Frodo.

those is mcdonalds jeans?

Fun fact: those McDonald’s jeans are part of the standard uniform here in Colombia. I’ve tried at least 16x to ask where they source them, if I can buy them from the manager, even going McDonald’s not to order food but just to ask for the jeans. I asked someone high up in their marketing dept here to see if maybe they know which company sourced them, and still couldn’t get my hands on a pair. Apparently employees only get one pair per year. They’re slightly high-waisted, they taper very slightly, they’re always kind of high water at the bottom, and they’re the perfect light jean color. They’re not stiff, they’re not that stretchy, they’re the perfect denim material. They come with a cloth belt that’s either yellow or turquoise, and the stitching on the M is almost sensual. I will not give up

theres a hourse in the dirve through

could you please stay on topic

The Australian Ballet is doing Alice in Wonderland again and on one hand I’ve seen it before, and on the other, their Queen of Hearts has my favourite costume in anything every

It’s just this and her court pushes her around the stage on wheels and every act it gets taller until she towers over everyone

Also in act 3 (I think) it swings open at the front and her husband is sitting inside reading a newspaper

I saw this again on Tuesday so here are some things I’d forgotten about:

  • This is the only Alice adaptation I’ve ever seen that doesn’t cut the caucus race
  • The mad hatter wears taps throughout and it’s so jarring and surprising it’s perfect
  • The executioner shadows almost everyone who dances with the Queen
  • Lewis Carroll is a character in the ballet and becomes the white rabbit who leads Alice into wonderland which is bad and wrong because Carroll is the dodo but does work very well
  • They started dropping rose petals from the ceiling onto the audience when Alice looked through the door to the garden and it was utterly magic
  • The Cheshire Cat is made of about 10 different puppets that dance around the stage
  • Which reminds me Alice is styled after Alice Liddell rather than the John Tenniel illustrations
  • I don’t think the king of hearts actually dances he just wanders around looking confused

Can we please just have one Australian election that doesn't end up revolving around cum? 😭

Okay so for international followers who aren't aware, election season in Australia is basically the biggest comedy event of the decade. Australian culture does NOT tolerate people who try to big up themselves or rock the boat, so a bunch of billionaires and politicians suddenly appearing everywhere claiming how great they are is basically painting a giant target on their backs to be mocked, tarred and feathered.

This is so much the case that the Australian national broadcaster The ABC used to even have a whole running series during elections where they would send out fake journalists to mock politicians and crash their events to spread chaos which was one of the highest rating shows on TV.

Pranks included trying to replace the microphones at press packs with baguettes and seeing how long it takes the politicians to realise, a kid cracking an egg on a neo-nazi's head, and a comedian chasing the Prime Minister down the street with a chainsaw.

Obviously politicians didn't like this so eventually the show was pulled from TV, but that just left a giant hole for the internet to fill where a bunch of pranksters untethered by TV standards now turn up to all political events trying to clown on the politicians.

At the last election, the national clowning included a remix of the Prime Minister's debate into a song called "coal makes me cum" which cut up the Prime Minister's words to make it sound like he jerks off to fossil fuels (the guy one famously brought a lump of coal into parliament to show off how much he loves it, so it was deserved).

This song ended up getting over a million streams and hit number one in the charts during the election. Not only that it even got enough write in votes for the Hottest 100 (our national yearly song poll that's a huge event in Australia) that it ended up ranking despite not being in the official voting list and as a result the national broadcaster had to play it on air.

The song made a laughing stock out of Scott Morrison, the Prime Minister at the time, and he and his government were absolutely annihilated on election day.

As for the second one, we inadvertently informed a bunch of people about the next election announcement yesterday when we joked about it on a poll about cum (see previous reblog). Apologies if this is how any of you are now learning about the election.
