i'm gonna be a hater for a minute and then i'm going to move on. but. it really does bother me that it's completely normal for the show to end an episode about maddie being kidnapped by fully shifting focus to a buddie scene but it's wrong for me to expect to see eddie included in an episode about the entire rest of the cast?

i don't think i meantto use that gif.

i know this is a huge point of contention around here so please don't throw rocks at me it's fine if you disagree. but like if i'm being honest. i DON'T trust tim minear et al to write a good plotline and i DON'T trust them to do things that are smart and make sense narratively. bc frankly they have not really given me any reason to. 911 sometimes does these things well but it just as often does not and i don't think it is doomerism or being overly critical to express that opinion lol. i love this stupid show but it is just like a fact that it has a huge problem with creating and following through on coherent plots, which makes sense bc there's no small cohesive writing and directing team that handles an entire season, it's different people almost every time and they're all subject to the whims of most insane man on earth tim minear, but the fact is that writers and showrunners have to earn (and maintain) our trust that they will execute things well and imo 911 has not done that. shrug emoji

this isn't dooming bc i don't for a minute believe that BT is actually endgame but the fact that tim is so insistent on bringing back bigoted white side characters while repeatedly sidelining or mishandling main characters of color is so deeply upsetting to me. are you telling me that they couldn't fit a single minute of eddie screentime in that ep? an episode where BOBBY FUCKING DIES?? it doesn't matter that it might not permanent because all of the other members of the 118 still got to feel that grief and sadness onscreen and eddie didn't. like...why are we acting like bobby isn't eddie's family as much as he is buck's? or is eddie just not important enough that bobby dying didn't even warrant a phone call?? jesus fucking christ

okay one last thing i swear. but if you were to dedicate a couple of precious minutes on your show to an ‘epic helicopter chase’ then why couldn’t you make it a little more… fast paced? energetic perhaps?

really conflicted over the episode because like. there were things they did really well. i think everything that happened inside the lab was great. ravi's oxygen running out and bobby coming up with his plan to save ravi and hen. my own personal feelings about bobby's death aside i do think the way they had bobby realise his hose was punctured was pretty compelling. a real hiding a fatal wound until they can't anymore moment. and then the conversations. we've been needing more of that. but that tiny moment with hen and ravi talking about when and why you should call. immediately followed by the chim and bobby conversation about family. hen pulling her hose out and risking exposure to save her best friend. chimney waking up from bleeding out and immediately worrying about his best friend. athena making the antiviral deposit and bobby telling her to get out of there. the get my people out sign. buck coming in with his stupidass "you would not believe the day i had" to try to lighten the mood. i think these moments were what made the episode sing. the only problem is tim thinks a two minute long snail's pace helicopter chase is more interesting than these scenes.
