The Shroudrose Teahouse and Tavern is a cozy teahouse and bar located within the Lavender Beds of the Twelveswood, serving a wide array of beverages and snacks and selling their own specialty loose-leaf blends of tea. At least, that is what is most publicly known. Less mainstream is the knowledge that the establishment also serves as a front for an information brokerage and private investigations business. Secrets, lies, rumors, intrigue… what is it that you are seeking, or selling, perhaps? Pay us a visit, cut a deal, and spill the tea. Or just enjoy a warm drink and some pleasant company! Hi there! Are you a FFXIV roleplayer? Are you looking for more opportunities to meet people/engage in one-on-one scenes and roleplay beyond event spaces? I may just have a solution for you!

To preface: my name is Sea, and I run far too many community projects (no, seriously, someone stop me); most notably my Community Compendium and question drives. Playing in the creative side of the XIV community, but most notably the roleplay community, brings me the most joy, and it's something I want to continue to foster both with this project and the others attached to it.

The meet-cute idea was originally based around this vent post I made regarding the difficulty of people wanting to get into the in-game ffxiv scene. While a lot of my venting was to do with mods/player expectations, the fact it resonated with people made me wonder if there was anything I could do in order to help people find and connect with other roleplayers. Based on an indulgence qotd, I came up with the idea of a meet-cute!

WHAT IS A MEET-CUTE?

  • A meet-cute typically refers to a scene in film/television where people meet for the first time, typically under unusual, humorous or cute circumstances.
  • Having a predetermined first-meet scene between two characters allows players to meet new people and expand their roleplay horizons.

While a meet-cute normally has a romantic subtext that is NOT the focus of this drive, and it is not mandatory or expected for players/characters to be looking for romance in their roleplay (though you absolutely can if you want)! It’s about the opportunity to create fun, first-meet scenarios for characters and their players.

WHY A MEET-CUTE?

  • Creates simple, predetermined scenes based on character hooks/stories and shared roleplay interests between players.
  • Eliminates the fear of an initial reaching out through assured mutual interest in roleplay. You know the person you’re interacting with wants to write!
  • Allows people to roleplay in-game or out depending on their comfort levels; no need to stand in the city or go to a bustling event (unless you want to).
  • The focus of a short, first-meet scenario allows players the ability to set up long-term scenes if they want… or just fun one-offs with lots of different people!

Patch gear commissions

I've seen a lot of people say they need better gear for the patch/plan on skipping the patch until they can get better gear, so I'm just gonna use my omnicrafter status to help y'all out. When I say gear, I mean gear, accessories, and weapons.

These commissions will be open for an unlimited time currently, but there are a few things I wanna get out of the way:

  • First come first serve. This is non-negotiable for now.
  • If you have combat tomes from endgame content, I ask that use them to get me the materials I can't from vendors that require them for your items, if the need arises
  • These will be unmelded, but HQ.
  • I do not require anything in exchange for the gear, but I won't say no to trades of any sort! Gil, gposes, XII materia, art, writing, a thank you, all are welcome!
  • Crafting might not be able to start until I can get the new crafting and gathering gear. Please be patient if that's the case, or donate if you're feeling generous! Of course, I will do my best to get mats as soon as I'm able.

The Balance: Community of math wizards who calculate your optimal openers and gear melds, then publish the information for everyone.

Lulus Tools for Ocean Voyage: Detailed information about upcoming ocean fishing voyages including baits, int procs, weather conditions, and more

Garland Tools | Database: Allows you to look up anything in the game, where you get it, and how to use it. Additionally allows you to make interactive crafting checklists that show materials needed. Best for simple solo crafting.

Garland Tools | Bell: Lists all special gathering nodes, where to find them, what time they’re up, what level you need to be at, with customizable notifications

Teamcraft: hub for various crafting tools including rotation planner, crafting checklists, crafting commissions, and more. Best for social crafting.

Eorzea Collection: Glamour hub, lists armor sets and has a gallery of user submitted glams

FFXIV Gardening: Database of seeds, cross breeding pairs, and a planner for your garden.

FFXIV Collect: create an account and manage your collections of mounts, orchestrion rolls, minions, and more.

MogTalk: Official host for world first races for Savage and Ultimates.

Gillionaire Girls: Crafting Levelling guides and Macro resources for DoH

Lulus Chocobo Color Calculator: creates a list of feeds to dye your chocobo new colors.

Sightseeing Log Helper: simple tracker to complete the early sightseeing logs, which are kind of bullshit.

New Sideblog!

The poll still has a few days to go, but the results were overwhelming, so....

I've created a new sideblog for aggregating FFXIV commissions, fan merch, etc all in one space — @ffxiv-makerspace! I'm currently open for submissions/suggestions if you'd like to submit your own open commissions, merch, etc — feel free to give me a poke on here or in private!

I'm hoping it makes a nice spot to share community projects and help XIV creators get seen.

Come try Shroudrose’s specialty blends of tea! Enjoy a cup in our tearooms on the main floor and second floor (including our far eastern themed rooms), or purchase some loose-leaf to brew at home! You can always cozy up in our library to read or get some work done while you enjoy a cuppa. Snacks and treats will be available to compliment your tea.

This event is bi-weekly at 7:00 PM eastern time the first Monday and third Monday of each month (and fifth Monday, if applicable).
