what if the sky was under you and the ground was above you. what if when you fell you'd never stop falling. what if you perverted all laws of nature and went where only the dead belong while still alive to try to drag souls into the beyond before their time. what if the underworld was a road and it looked like this.

scott lures pearl into the voidnet. the obvious play here would be to have his sword out to hit her off the edge when she comes after him, because otherwise, he's dead meat. but he doesn't. he has his shield out.

he even had his sword out on instinct initially before purposefully switching to a shield because he realised if he hit her off the edge she'd die. he's in a dead end; if he doesn't hit her off the edge here there's here nowhere for him to run to. she would be able to just kill him and he would die. yet he's taking the risk of dying just because he doesn't want to hurt her even when she's his enemy and has been trying to kill him constantly. AUGH....

the fact he has no intent to kill her nor does he even have his sword out to hit her off with makes the conversation hey have only all the more ironic:

Scott: Do you wanna — do you wanna risk it? Pearl: I don't think I want to, I think you'll easily just hit me off into the void, I'm not that — I'm not — well, I might be dumb, but I'm not that dumb!

pearl is scared to go after scott because she thinks he'll knock her off into the void with his sword and permakill her. scott says that if she goes after him he'll knock her off into the void with his sword and permakill her.

scott doesn't even have his sword out. and i think that says something. i think that says a lot.

what do you mean he had the PERFECT opportunity to get rid of the red name who has been trying to kill him this entire episode and, instead of knocking her off, he jumped the diagonal so he'd hit her straight-on so she specifically wouldn't fall into the void and die.

Scott: You're lucky I didn't [hit you off]! I thought about it, though...

it was not luck. there was no luck involved. this was sheer intention. we all know he didn't even 'think about it' it for a second.

pearl is ACTIVELY trying to kill scott here. and yet despite the fact she's trying to murder him he is only concerned for her health and safety. he doesn't even mention his own, he doesn't seem to care about his own, he cares about hers. he's doing everything in his power not to hurt her despite the fact she's doing everything in her power to hurt him. he's SO concerned for her he wants her to live SO bad even as she wants him DEAD wauoighuGIUguhh........
