@terrietont

I. Uh… I obsess over fictional characters and worlds and talk about them… a lot.
ND Ace- She/Her. 26 Yrs Old. Just trying to get through life one day at a time.

Just a friendly reminder for anyone looking at my blog.

THIS IS A FANDOM/FANART BLOG

The only Drama or Controversy I will share now is to do with usually my own personal problems for example, problems about depression/anxiety/PTSD/personal opinions for the webisite etc. any out of tumblr/Twitter drama is NOT my focus unless it personally affects me and and or people like me.

I AM NOT A DRAMA/CONTROVERSY BLOG FOR ANYTHING ON THIS WEBSITE. I’m not mentally stable to handle drama or controversy right now on tumblr. I consider this website a way to express my fanart and to follow other fanartists and I will block you if you pop up with any drama on my feed (since tumblr stupidly doesn’t have a way to hide certain posts and the only way to avoid something is to block the person or block the tag.)

I want to also clarify. I seperate art from the artist. If I draw art of a movie/game/show, it DOES NOT automatically mean I support the creator by any means. It just means I enjoy their work. I just want to make that clear.

That’s all I wanted to mention. I don’t bite, I just don’t want to deal with drama right now.

Warning I will block you if you bring too much negativity to my feed. I’m not in a good place at the moment and my mind is not stable enough to handle negative energy for too long, please try to be positive and constructive at least if you must.

i’m going to hold your hands when i say this and i am only going to be kind about it once: ai does not belong in fandom spaces, ever. not in writing, not in art, not in video, not at all. it does not matter how bad you want to see your favourite characters kiss, or how much you need a bit of help finishing a chapter, or whatever.

make friends with artists. commission somebody. learn to draw yourself. ask for a beta read. try a writing partnership. fandom spaces are communities, so engage with them! it is about the journey and the fact that we all love something enough to create and build together about that thing.

spending 30 seconds to kill a tree and get an AI to push out some soulless empty piece of “content” is antithetical to the entire point of being engaged with fandom, and if you’ve taken to doing this you should really reconsider if you belong in these spaces with the rest of us.

I admit I have used it in the past, back when it was all for shits and giggles before it blew up and I found out the true impact it caused for not only people like me, but for the earth itself. I no longer fuck with it. Plus if you want to see two characters kissing… WRITE IT YOURSELF! That’s why people write fanfiction (not that reason specifically) but to read the thing they’ve been ITCHING to see! Same with drawing and making music!

Learn the ropes, make the content! I promise it’ll feel way better than using a hodgepodge of algorithms to generate a hybrid of stolen ideas and excessive inflation to global warming.

The only AI I will support is fictional sentient robots. Always love me some sci-fi sentient existential machines realizing they are sentient! Write more of that please!

this modern day fandom culture is killing me because we’re losing the art of shipping

these days you have to publish a dissertation and make a 100 page powerpoint with textual and subtextual evidence to back up the fact that you like seeing two characters together because apparently people can only ship what’s canon now

back in my day we used to be able to ship characters who never interacted,

we used to ship characters that didn’t even exist within the same media

It always baffles me when the argument or not shipping the characters are "they were just friends!", "they hate each other!", "they've never met!", "they wouldn't be happy together!"

Do you not have imagination? That's the beauty of fanfiction: you can do with those characters whatever you want, put them in any situations, even in a different universe and/or time period. You can explore different scenarios, both good and bad, difficult, sad and gut-wrenching, sweet and fluffy or downright insane. There are no limits. The characters are not real people, they don't feel anything and they will be exactly as happy or unhappy as the author chooses to make them.

Granted, you don't have to like a ship or any particular piece of fiction, but telling people they can't ship two characters together because you don't think they make a compelling couple is absolutely ridiculous.

“Do you not have imagination?” SAY IT LOUDER!

Plus if you really have a NOTP about something. DO NOT INTERACT WITH IT!

Just don’t engage and move on!

Is is so hard for people NOT to be so negative to things they dislike instead of just idk IGNORING THE THING OR BEING CIVIL?!

Like, ranting about it in your own blog or whatever is fine but do you HAVE to comment “ew this ship sucks” or “in canon X did this to Y so they wouldn’t make a good couple” on someone’s art of said ship? (I’m talking to you, Pinterest comments…)

I’m usually not gonna comment on art of ships I don’t like; or if I do, I just don’t say “This ship bad” I just go “I personally don’t ship it, and that’s just me.” If someone asks me about it or something. Or hell even if I don’t like a pairing, I can still like someone’s art and not be a dick about it.

Yes, sometimes I’ll be too honest and say “personally this ship is not my cup of tea, but the drawings are really cute and sweet and I love the shading, keep it up!” But I won’t try and insist my opinion is superior, because it’s just an opinion!

None of the agressive-

“THat’S NoT CaNON BlEH” or “This sucks because I said so and that’s a fact”

YOU DON’T NEED TO COMMENT ON SOMEONE’S BLOG OF WHY THEIR FAVOURITE PAIRING IS BAD AND THEY SHOULD FEEL BAD!

Do it on your own blog!
