willtresor au where monty becomes an outlaw and narrowly avoids being caught by the sheriff by hopping in back of a train headed for kansas. unluckily for him the train stops abruptly after just a few hours, stuck on the border of kansas due to an incoming dust storm.
he figures by now theyve already got a group of officers on his tail so he cant wait in the train they know hes on. so he makes a run towards the nearest town. too bad that it takes so long to get there, cause by the the dust storm is getting worse and worse. he can barely see through clouds of black, coughing fits becoming near constant.
he races into the first building he sees to avoid, yknow, dying. he falls to the floor the minute he gets inside, struggling to catch his breath. suddenly someone rushes by him, shouting something he didn't bother listening to while hurrying to close the door.
when monty gets enough oxygen in him he looks around and meets eyes with a flustered brunette. they sit in silence for a minute before the brunette mutters some goofy curse as he goes to get a broom. as he sweeps, he speaks up.
"dont think ive seen you round here before, you just move?"
"....something like that"
"im sure youll like it here, most folks do. whats your name?"
"montresor."
"wow! never heard a name like that, eheh, i like it."
"mhm.. whater bout you?"
"o-oh me? its just william-- or will, i go by will. wills fine."
they end up becoming unlikely friends and will lets monty stay with him for the time being. good thing cant last forever though, as only two days later the police find their way into the town and begin hanging up wanted posters and searching for the greasy cowboy man. monty is ready to go on the run again, but will insists that he come with. monty was the only person he could be himself around, even if he was apparently an outlaw. monty hestitantly agrees and then theyre off.
they start as friends but after they deal with some internalized homophobia and religious trauma inbetween robberies and proly murders they be gay and do crime like a homosexual bonnie and clyde✊
