It's blatantly obvious that the only reason the Korean war is "forgotten" to americans and the Vietnam war is remembered is because the latter was far more unpleasant for american soldiers, which is the only moral consideration the yankee mind is capable of making

I would also put the fact that there was a stronger anti-imperialist revolutionary movement in opposition to Vietnam than against the Korean War which was coincidentally occurring during the McCarthyist period.

Martín Luther King was assassinated shortly after a number of speeches condemning the Vietnam War and connecting his struggle against racism and poverty to the struggle against war in general. Huey Newton and Fred Hampton would both be assassinated for their revolutionary political activities, which included connecting the oppression of Black people to the oppression of the third world which was the basis of their own opposition to the Vietnam War. There were gay socialist magazines connecting homophobia to imperialism.

This was a period of mass civil unrest and the white ruling class genuinely feared the opposition to the Vietnam War would escalate into a revolutionary civil war much like Russia and China.
