My goldwork supplies finally got here and came with some scraps which I used to practice with. The embroidery pattern I found is not made for a female body so I had to do some manual photoshopping for both sides of the pattern. The satan skirt lining was cut and serged before it could fray into spiderwebs and oblivion (I hate satin). *cue my janky thread setup* (I taped an empty bobbin to an empty spool so I can put it on the bobbin winder) the pattern outline for the goldwork is stitched on because I don’t trust chalk and I can just tear the paper away as I work.
I forgot that I was short waisted, so I had to mess with my mockup to adjust the pattern to align w/ my natural waist. The mockup is a technically wearable joat (Jean coat) that I did cut out sleeves for, I just didn’t attach them. Once the pattern was adjusted properly, I got to cut the fancy fabric and it was very cronchy under the rotary cutter in a good way. All the cut pieces got their raw edges serged so they don’t come apart while I do the goldwork.
It’s a Durast Kefta in a heavy 60/40 blend wool rayon melton. The bodice lining is Minky and the skirt panel lining will be satin. I’ve never done goldwork before but I practiced with bugle beads while I’m waiting for the bullion the get here. I’ve already spent $200 on supplies alone ;-;
