When Katniss says “I know this would have happened anyway…what I need is the dandelion in the spring,” do you think this is her admitting that she was crushing on Peeta before the games? Like why do you think she specifically uses ‘dandelion in the spring’? The one connection they had before the games.

To me, she was able to sort out her feelings for Peeta, even the ones before the games. like not only is she saying why she had fallen for Peeta, why she needs him, but she's going “Yeah I felt something before the games.” like not romantic love, but something. Or am I just thinking too much of it, and I'm going off the rails LOL thoughts?

She didn't know that it was a crush. She didn't hang out socially with anyone but Gale, and that was isolated in the woods. And while I'm sure she understood the concept, she wasn't emotionally ready to allow herself to have those kinds of feelings when she was still operating in survival mode.

You really have to weed though the subtext though, because she does not openly admit much in terms we're used to, and because a lot of people don't pick up on it it's not written into many fics.

Katniss notes that Peeta does not meet her eyes like how he used to before the games. Her tone is displeasure, she doesn't like to think of the time when Peeta wasn't in her life like that. When Pesta refuses to let her take the nighlock pill, she says “Only now he holds my stare.” this suggests that Katniss wanted Peeta to be in her life, way before the games. It's subtle, but I think it holds meaning.

i dont think any part of of her would ever have been ready to admit to a crush or to feelings in a world with hunger games. she definitely always felt things for him, thought about him - the boy with the bread had been within her periphery ever since that night in the rain. But to begin to understand those feelings within herself, she would have had to open herself up to relationships, children, a future - and within the structure of the Hunger Games that was something unthinkable to her.

do I think Peeta could have pushed his way through that outright denial without the games? Absolutely. (THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ANYWAY) But likely not until after she was out of reaping age. Maybe not until after Prim was out of reaping age. Katniss would have been completely single-minded in one thing. Survival.

But, looking at it from the outside? Girl was embarrassingly not indifferent to Peeta.

@triassictriserratops My headcanon is the day of the reaping something was going to happen to Peeta and Katniss because she mentioned how she was going to go to the bakery after the reaping. Or that Peeta confessed to her, when they grew back together, how was he planning to talk to her and get her to be his friend, or simply ask to court her.

Another humans and aliens post because im hooked on it still.

Humans are friendly. Really friendly. Theyll make friends with anything that can move. They pack bond like crazy and they seem to understand their emotions better than any other species and tend to be the therapist of the ship.

So, why is it that, on the ships, with more than a couple humans on it, are the ones that have the most fights.

Humans are so friendly, you could probably do just about anything to them and they wouldnt even so much as blink. But one human woke up another human too early one day and they both ended up in the medbay. The worst part is- they were back to being friends again not even a full day cycle later.

There had been another fight between a couple of other humans too, but this fight wasnt physical. It was a screaming match, or atleast thats what the humans called it. This fight wasnt even physical but the humans involved in this one had cried in this one. They did not go back to being friends afterwards. It made no sense- but what made even less sense happened a week later.

A team of humans showed up for a 'debate'. To the aliens understanding- it was a series of arguements over a couple of prepared questions. Every alien on the ship expected there to be more tears and more sadness- but instead the humans cheered on the debate and the people screaming at eachother laughed about it afterwards.

Any alien with enough sentience on the ship that day remembered the fact that despite being as friendly as they were, humans are still very, very unexplored territory.
