On November 7, 2024, Denmark used a racist, culturally biased "parenting competency" test to remove a 2 hour old baby, Zammi, from her loving indigenous Greenlandic Inuit mother, Keira, because her native language, which uses minute facial expressions to communicate, will not be able to "[prepare] the child for the social expectations and codes that are necessary to navigate in Danish society." This test had been recommended not to be used at the federal level before this happened but certain municipalities, including the one this happened in, chose to continue to use it regardless. Not only is this blatantly racist but also violates multiple declarations and conventions that Denmark has signed that protect the rights of indigenous people.

Please sign this petition to help Keira to get her baby back.

Hey, it's really important for Keira to get 50,000 signatures on this petition before her court date in early April 2025. Please sign if you haven't already to help a mother and a people stand up to colonialism and for indigenous rights.

Rosemary? You mean spicy pine needles?

Are you insinuating that regular pine needles aren’t spicy???

Regular pine needles are regular

Avatar

Not by rosemary standards

…Have you eaten pine needles?

Avatar

We’ve been friends for like four years, do you seriously have to ask if I’ve eaten pine needles or not

I mean I’m pretty sure you have but I don’t want to assume

Avatar
malus-syl-vestris

Of course I’ve eaten pine needles. Various kinds. Singleleaf pinyon is weirdly the best

Are they…

spicy?
Avatar
malus-syl-vestris

You know, I’d love to tell you but I’m pretty unclear about what marks the difference between “spice” and “strong-tasting plant that isn’t considered a spice”

I’ll have to eat some pine needles myself then to find out

Avatar
malus-syl-vestris

Ok but it only counts if they’re PINE needles and not just any old needle-like leaf off a tree

I’m going to eat every needle-like leaf I see

…I’ll accept this plan as long as you promise not to eat any yew leaves.

I can try very hard not to

Avatar
malus-syl-vestris

Pine needles are distinguished by the presence of a sheath-like structure at the base of the leaf, almost always holding bundles of two or more leaves. Yews don’t have the sheath thing

It’s time for me to go out into the woods and stare at needle leaves

Finally you can gain real insight into my average daily life

this conversation reads like two shakespeare characters who come out in the middle of the play to talk about something completely unrelated for comic relief and then are never heard from again

god fucking dammit gimme a minute

Enter AERUH and MALUS SYL-VESTRIS, a pair of JESTERS.

AERUH I tell thee, rosemary is like a pine but with a spicy taste.

MALUS                         Art thou to claim that needles base of pine have not a spice?

AERUH A needle base of pine is merely base.

MALUS ‘Tis not when held, comparing, to anthos.

AERUH My dearest Malus, needles thou'st eaten?

MALUS How many moons have we as friends seen rise? How many suns have we as friends seen set? Thou sixteen seasons in my heart I’ve held, and hope that I in thine hast been the same. With brotherhood as rich and old as this, thou needst not ask me such frivolities.

AERUH I know thou likely has, to tell the truth, but I would not assume.

MALUS                       Well, yes, I have. A multitude of types I’ve eaten too. I’ll tell thee now: the best (though it is strange) is single-leaf pinyon.

AERUH                     And it has spice?

MALUS I truly wish that I could tell thee this, but now, i'faith, I cannot fully tell, the difference in classifying thus: to say “has spice” or merely “herbal strength”.

AERUH To tell this tale most clearly it would seem that eating needles from a pine’s required.

MALUS Aye, it would seem that that’s the task at hand, but caution tells that this is what’s to do: eat only needles of the honest pine, and none of lying leaf with pinelike shape.

AERUH I’ll eat them all.

MALUS                   I prithee, stay thyself.

AERUH Roulette with leaves.

MALUS                     At least restrain from yew.

AERUH I’ll do my best.

MALUS                That is all can we do. The scholars tell that needles true of pine can be distinguished from the lying yew by sheathlike clothing all along the base; the yew has no such guard.

AERUH                          With this new truth I now will venture out into the wood and seek the pines and pinelike fakes alike to stare them down and learn their secret truths.

MALUS With this thou canst at long and weary last Discover for thyself my life’s own path.

Exeunt.

Enter MACDUFF.

MACDUFF. Yo dudes that king there’s dead. Like dead as FUCK.

get this shit in angsty emotional moodboards NOW

PLEASE THIS ROCKS

STELLAR post everyone, hit da showers

i think in the end furries will always win. in whatever time it takes i think people are going to realize anthropomorphism is so deeply ingrained in us as creatures that to even invent a hatred of the concept to begin with is like hating the concept of telling stories or singing or dancing

When I was in my teens, I used to make an entire magic system with 360+ unique spells, ordered in magic schools and categories, and it boggles my mind that I basically reinvented DnD mechanics, even down to metamagic.

I wanted to make a wiki about it but I don't have time for it.

The point was to try to encompass every "superpower" I could think of into a magic system.

I even got lore related to it all, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna simply reuse it all for OC worldbuilding. Ngl the fun part was naming all the spells, symbols and coming up with the logic of it all.

This is amazing I fucking love the style

i think the near-extinction of people making fun, deep and/or unique interactive text-based browser games, projects and stories is catastrophic to the internet. i'm talking pre-itch.io era, nothing against it.

there are a lot of fun ones listed here and here but for the most part, they were made years ago and are now a dying breed. i get why. there's no money in it. factoring in the cost of web hosting and servers, it probably costs money. it's just sad that it's a dying art form.

anyway, here's some of my favorite browser-based interactive projects and games, if you're into that kind of thing. 90% of them are on the lists that i linked above.

if you're ever thinking about making a niche project that only a select number of individuals will be nerdy enough to enjoy, keep in mind i've been playing some of these games off and on for 20~ years (Alter Ego, for example). quite literally a lifetime of replayability.

since this post blew up, i've been wanting to do an addition with all of the recommendations from the comments and tags. but there's a lot of them. some people might be crazy enough to sit down and seriously put them all in one post with descriptions. those people are honestly sick in the head.

anyway, here's all of the recommendations from the reblogs. not all of them are text-based, but it's a great mixture of styles. also don't forget the links in the second paragraph of the OP which will take you to FMHY where there are a bunch more games listed.

I spent a good chunk of my weekend scrambling to finish this comic. I hope you like it. I was really trying to push myself with the colours.

You know what’s wild? This comic still gets reblogged every single day. I made it so long ago it doesn’t even feel like my own work haha. Anyways, I guess I’m glad people still like it but it’s very weird to have One Piece of Art that Doesn’t Fade.

Years ago, you blocked me because I made a silly joke that you did not care for. Ever since I've felt a glib sense of pride every time I saw your blog be taken down and anger each time I saw your blog back up.

I'm just realizing that... That mindset is incredibly pointless. I don't like you. But I don't even know you. You're a stranger I'll never meet, yet you've occupied so much of my thoughts. That's incredibly sad.

So, I guess I'll just block you. I'll block you, and I'll move on with my life. I'll move beyond you. I'll live the entirety of my finite human life with you not occupying even an iota of my thoughts, and I hope you'll do the same for anyone that gives you grief or trouble.

I am finding peace in this. In a way, I should thank you, but mostly I should apologize. I'm sorry I made you the unwilling catalyst for my own growth as a person. I'm sorry for all the ill will I've held on against you. You're just another person having to live in this fucked up world. You're not a cartoon villain whose dartardly plans I have to foil by reporting. That's so incredibly pointless and destructive. I am genuinely, truly sorry.

I sincerely wish you the best. Goodbye.

hey anon i wish you the best in your journey to no longer being the person that you apparently are. can you send me one more anon so i can block you too? if you need inspiration feel free to just answer the question "did you just admit you've been spam reporting me in bad faith for years?"

for onlookers, i feel the need to emphasize that if this started "years ago" that's.... when i joined tumblr. like. do not get it twisted. this didn't happen because i'm a "big blog" or whatever, because this apparently predates that. this is, in fact, just how some people get about trans women they don't like. can you understand that?

dont expect anything particularly funny in this post, im just bathing in nostalgia a bit

I’ve always wanted to make a cartoon with the same vibes as the kind of shows i watched as a kiddo. Ignoring the fact that I watched a wide collection of different stuff, i mean semi-obscure kids shows from the late 1990s to mid 2000s. no i did not grow up in that time period, i just watched a very strange collection of media. episodic stuff with some kinds wacky twist, the MC having magic powers or a fantastical location. I think all my OCs have inadvertently been kinda converging on fitting into this kind of world

if i had to point out some notable influences, stuff like Wow Wow Wubbzy, Justin Time, Mixels (especially Mixels), would be the general Vibe but the animation would be more like The Amazing World of Gumball, Wander Over Yonder, or. Mixels. I really like Mixels

this post doesnt have a punchline or ending statement i just wanted to put it out there
