The Dark isn't kind. The Dark isn't cruel. It simply and hideously is.

Ruin-haunters are dogs steeped in generations of superstition and mystery. History is best left forgotten, and the secrets of the Dark around them ought to be left alone. For Kay—a young trans dog trying to figure herself out—this way of life is all that she’s ever known, until a bizarre mistake made under the shining Night-sun leaves her with blood on her paws and no choice but to confront the Dark head-on. Hello everyone and welcome to The Deep Blue Dark! This is the cover for the comic, and I intend on updating it as frequently as I can (I'll edit this once I get a consistent upload schedule sorted out). Issue #2: "Murder In The Dark"

Issue #2 is finally out! Kay is beginning to realize the sheer depth of her predicament, and we get to meet a few more Ruin-haunters. With this one out of the way, it's finally time to move forward with all the crazy stuff.

A lot of terrible things can happen to a dog alone in the Dark. . .

the point of writing is to make people feel something, not to be good or even coherent. a story that i hate will always mean more to me than one that i don't feel much of anything about

something that a lot of people don't realize is that writing isn't just a hobby for me, it's the only thing that's ever felt real

the next issue of The Deep Blue Dark is almost done. my schedule has been totally broken lately but nothing can stop this comic from coming out I promise

writing isn't an act of creation. it's an act of destruction, of devouring every inspiration and every piece of your life only to fit them back together in new and hideous ways

sitting down to write isn't really about creating a story, it's about getting the story onto the page before it destroys me

writer’s block? more like writer is crying in the corner bc she has all these ideas but The Words are scary

the worst part about having ocs is sitting around all day thinking "it sure would be cool if people loved these guys as much as i do" and not making any content that would help with that

Issue #1: "The First Time"

Here is finally is, the first issue of The Deep Blue Dark! This is an experimental comic/writing project about dogs and being trans and murder and a whole lot of other things! I'll be updating it as regularly as I can, since I am still getting used to a digital medium for art. The plot is all original, as is the world that the characters inhabit, but I take plenty of inspiration from works such as Warriors and its many fan-interpretations.

Please do feel free to send me asks as I will always do my best to respond! I love to hear from people who enjoyed my work, and all feedback does motivate me to keep posting.

Oh, also, if it wasn't clear from the first issue, this comic will be getting about as dark as I can personally stomach. Everything will be tagged to the best of my ability, but you've been warned.

"why are all your characters gay?" Well I don't know. That sure is a mystery huh

what if I wrote about a transfem dog who kills dogs not for. like. personal reasons or anything but bc the whole universe is cruel so she might as well be cruel too. and there are literal dinosaurs in this world so no one is too concerned about the murder at first until the very fabric of reality starts to break and it's totally her fault. is this what folks are into or am i just out of touch?

Description: Kay is the epitome of everything wrong with the Dark--a haunted dog who feels alone no matter how many others she surrounds herself with. She gets stuck inside her head even when the world around her seems to be impossible to escape. Her inexplicable urges have put her at odds with most every dog she's supposed to love, but they may also be the answer to unraveling the mysteries of the Dark that threaten to destroy both her and the rest of the Ruin-haunters. Or she might destroy everyone long before she finds any answers.

A future version of Kay, who has suffered a great tragedy, is the narrator of the Deep Blue Dark.
