Ooh! So Fandom Trumps Hate is this annual charity event that started in 2016, where fandom creators can post an offering to create something (for example: art, a story, a bookbind, etc.) or a service (Brit-picking, etc.) and people can bid to win the auction. The winner will directly donate their winning bid amount to one of the charities that are chosen by the event (you can scroll past a few recent posts on “fandomtrumpshate” on tumblr to see this year’s supported charities and how to sign up as a creator or the Fandom Trumps Hate Fanlore page to see previous years’ supported charities and how much ended up being donated to each) and then the winner sends a receipt/proof of their donation to the event organizers (and/or the creator themselves, I can’t recall). So the money that the bidder donates is never touched by the event organizers - it goes directly to the charities themselves - which I like. The creation is like a gift for the winning bidder as a thank you for donating to the charity.

Fandom creators can choose a few charities from the list of Fandom Trumps Hate’s 2025 charities to support (and also a single outside organization that was not chosen by Fandom Trumps Hate but is in line with the values of the auction). As in, Fandom Trumps Hate offers around 20 charities on their list of supported organizations this year, which support a variety of causes (for ex: food and medical aid to children in the Middle East, housing, employment opportunities, and a support system for homeless LGBTQ+ young adults, environmental protection, supporting the rights and best interests of unaccompanied immigrant children that arrive in the U.S. and making sure that wherever they land, whether here in the U.S. or in their home country, they are safe, etc.), and the creator can decide that winning their auction would require a donation to a few particular charities on this list that the creator personally feels more connected to. And again, the creator can also choose an outside organization to support via this auction that the creator personally really likes!

oh thats so cool! i love the idea of this event~ i'll definitely check it out and see if it fits into my workload ajshdjka . thank you for brining it to my attention and giving such a comprehensive explanation!
