To anyone who is thinking about watching HTTYD 3. You have some homework to catch up on.^^^ XD

I’ve made this exact post a couple of times but now it’s actually DONE. Like nothing more to add :’(  We should be so, so grateful that we have this much canon content and that everything was made with such care and attention to details. We are so lucky to have all of this <3 <3

138. (Short) - How To Train Your Dragon: Homecoming

Although the HTTYD saga is rapidly coming to a close - something that has been such an important part of my life for so long - I can’t help but to smile. The friendship between Hiccup and Toothless led me to this fandom, filled with people bonded together by a love for the same story. This community has welcomed me with open arms, and so I feel like the least I can do is to pay some of that kindness forward with my third annual HTTYD Fandom Awards.

My second entry for the “Discover Your Duo” Contest. 

Something that really bugs me is how the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is disregarded. I particularly think it is a very touching and special relationship, because as the name says, it is as if the bride gains a second mother, and the mother-in-law, a new daughter to her family.

So I was really happy when I saw how the movie dealt with Valka and Astrid’s relationship. It was of respect and support. Valka helped Astrid to bring out the best of Hiccup, and acted as a voice of wisdom. Ideally, I think that’s how this kind of relationship should be treated. (I wish they’d kept the deleted scene, it was a nice bounding moment between them).

(This is why I didn’t update Mermay these days…gotta go back!)

This is my entry for the HTTYD contest “Discover your Duo” on Deviantart.

I know the franchise is all about dragon and human friendship, but what really struck me in this series is how Hiccup and Astrid’s relationship develop throughout the years. I love the fact that they treated each other as equals, and their relationship was very relatable (Astrid was not a “prize” to be won, nor Hiccup had to pretend he was someone else to conquer her, etc.). Relationship goals for life!
