and here’s a weirdly double exposed mt etna
the casual yet reverent treatment of matt’s spirituality also is lovely. nothing super dramatic just a constant presence and something you’re forced to keep in mind just looking at the things he’s struggling with it makes sense to have this religious guilt and duty and purpose underlying it all. opening a scene on him praying as it’s intercut with moments of the brutal violence that i love that this show is allowing and explaining with “you know, just checking in” when asked what he’s doing. stunning.
episode five of daredevil born again is randomly a perfectly contained bank robbery plot with high tension and extreme violence. i’m actually so surprised by how much i like this show, especially knowing that it had to be reworked so much but it’s possible that it worked in their favor i guess? it’s the only thing from the mcu i’ve ever seen that feels grounded in new york city and actually concerned with real people. the way it’s plotted feels like the kind of issue to issue gradual ascension of stakes that works so well in good comics.
