The Word For The Day

@thewordfortheday / thewordfortheday.tumblr.com

Hope in Jesus.

David said, “In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul” (Psalm 138:3).

In other words, David was saying, “I’ve proven you, God! In all my trials, I turned to no one else. I sought only You and You heard me, answered me, and gave me strength for the battle I was facing.”

“The Lord … hears the prayer of the righteous” (Proverbs 15:29).

These are but a few of the promises given as evidence of God’s care and how He listens to our cry. Our lives would be so much richer and more effective in every way if we would run to Jesus, cry out to Him, and make Him our priority.

“Those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing” (Psalm 34:10). I encourage you to go to your secret place of prayer regularly and seek Him with all your heart.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

We have a divine mission by Jesus Himself, and only the power of the Holy Spirit will enable us to fulfil that. What happened in the upper room? Frail men, who deserted Jesus and were locked up in a room fearing arrest and death, after they were filled with the Holy Spirit stood boldly and preached that Jesus Christ is Lord. As a result, a large number of people were touched, transformed, healed and saved. The church was established. The Holy Spirit enabled ordinary unschooled men and women to do things beyond their natural abilities.

Thank God for His ability to lift us above ourselves. Otherwise where would all of us be? The Holy Spirit is greater than any of our short-comings, failures and complexes. He is able to set us free. He will accomplish through us what we are incapable of accomplishing by ourselves. The issue is, are we available?

Deuteronomy 31:8

The LORD Himself goes before you; He will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged."

God has promised to never leave us. So every morning when we wake up, we can say, “Thank You, Jesus. I know You were watching over me while I slept. And now as I get ready for the day, I know that wherever I go, You will be with me.”

“God has made everything beautiful in its time.” Ecclesiastes 3:11

The seasons of life include both good times and bad times. We go through mountains and valleys, troubled waters and still waters. Life is a combination of seasons.

If you are living under the will of God, all these life experiences have  purpose and meaning in your life.

Today, many things in your life may seem to be in a mess-Your finances, your marriage, your children, your future. But if you give Jesus all the broken pieces, He can make all these things beautiful in its time. All you need to do is, wait for it in faith and expectancy.

It’s not over, until Jesus says it’s over.

All the odds were against Jairus. His daughter was dying. Jesus said to him, “Don’t be afraid, only believe.”  So many were the obstacles in the way of his miracle. He was in a hurry. Please let the crowds disperse, he wished, it’s an emergency! “Please hurry Jesus!”, he wanted to say. He couldn’t get to do it. And then the woman with the issue of blood touches Him. Jesus asks, “Who touched me?”  Further delay. By now news arrives that his daughter is dead.  Now he is desperate.  He said, “Just believe”, didn’t He?  Finally, Jesus goes with him to his house. He sees people wailing and mourning. Jesus says “She’s only sleeping.”  The people begin to mock now and Jesus throws them out and raises Jairus’ daughter back to life.

No situation is so desperate that Jesus cannot work. Disease, delays, and even death are under His control. Jesus goes with you to the place of disappointment and sorrow and meets your needs. No matter how depressing your situation may appear like Jairus, "Do not be afraid; only believe”.

I asked God to move a certain mountain but He gave me the grace and strength to scale it and another time when I thought He'd part the waters, He simply assured me that His presence will be with me and that the waters will not overwhelm me. And now when I look back I see His faithfulness, and that I have indeed come out stronger and all things have worked together for my good. Nothing in life is certain and the unknown can sometimes seem frightening. But I urge you, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5

He is God and He knows what He is doing. Jesus never fails.

Loving God and loving our neighbour is the greatest commandment of all. (Luke 10:27) When we love God, the Love of Jesus fills our hearts. Our focus turns from the petty things of the world to the more important things, like seeking the Lord, walking in love and holiness, learning His truth, serving others, showing mercy, reaching out to the lost and the down trodden and so on. We are then not focused on ourselves but focussed on loving others and putting others above ourselves. Have you tried being a good neighbour? Have you done something nice for someone? Try that, you will learn to be content with whatever God has blessed you with, even if it means living with less of everything. You will discover that this kind of life is so fulfilling, that you literally will live with less worry, less stress and less clutter.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10

Fear of the Lord is to place God in the highest position of reverence. To revere  God and to humble yourself before Him are the best ways to gain wisdom, which means, God becomes the centre of your life. In Him is the wisdom to help us make the right decisions each day of our lives and avoid unnecessary pitfalls that cause us heartaches and untold misery.

Prayer: Lord, we lack the wisdom and understanding we need to face the world. Please teach us the fear of the LORD, that we might shun evil and gain a heart of understanding. In Jesus’ Name. Amen

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16).

That’s right.  But how did God make a way for us to enter the most holy place. It is through the blood of Jesus Christ. His blood makes us righteous when we repent, turn away from our sin, and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. Now we can walk into the throne room anytime. The door is wide open. We have access to our Father God every moment of every day.

At no time is it ever inconvenient to go into the heavenly throne room of God and say, “Father, I am confident that You hear me and will answer me, so I am making my requests known to You.”

He said in His Word to come boldly, so all we need to do is, just go on in there and speak to our Heavenly Father. He is our Abba Father. He's delighted to see His children come to His presence.

Are you discouraged because things seem to be at a standstill? You may be in the middle of a miracle right now and simply not see it. Faith is when you believe God has heard your cry, that He isn’t ignoring your petition but is leading you to the best path for your life. He began your miracle the moment you prayed, and He’s doing supernatural work on your behalf. Consider what David said: “In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice, and my cry came before Him... He bowed the heavens also, and came down... He sent out His arrows and scattered the foe, lightnings in abundance, and He vanquished them...He delivered me because He delighted in me” (Psalm 18:6-19). Like David, do you believe that the Lord delights in you and is working on your behalf? He’s working out His wonderful plan for your life. Wait in expectancy!

“Purify my heart, let me be as gold, pure gold”. How often we have sung this song! I wonder if any of us really understand the process involved. To purify gold, it must go through different levels of purification, each time the temperature of the furnace is increased, until all the impurities come floating up leaving the pure gold below.  That is exactly how our hearts are purified, in the furnace of affliction, trials and hardships. Maybe, today what you are going through is part of that process. Hold on, Jesus knows how much you can bear, and when this is over you will come forth fine as gold.

Proverbs 17:3 The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the LORD tests the heart.

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and earth…He who keeps you will not slumber. (Psalm 121:1–3)

Where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord —the Maker of the entire universe. The Psalmist reminded himself of two great truths: one is that God is a mighty Creator and can handle all the problems of life; the other is that God never sleeps.

“From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides You, who works for those who wait for Him” (Isaiah 64:4) And this God is working on your behalf. “The eyes of the Lord Jesus run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show His might on behalf of those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9).

What a truth! What a reality! God is up all night and all day working for those who wait for Him.

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 1:2

Paul starts his letter with this greeting. Most of the churches were going through tough times of persecution, divisions and financial stress. How often we read this greeting casually! We need God’s grace to go through difficult situations and peace in the midst of trials. This grace and peace is freely given to us by God the Father through our Lord Jesus Christ. May this grace and peace abound in our lives and in our families now and always. Amen

Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

—Mark 11:24

We are to pray in times of adversity, in times of prosperity, in times of danger, in times of safety and security. We need to pray when we are in need and when we are full. We can never be self sufficient. We need God every moment of every day. We pray to a merciful God for forgiveness. We pray for an outpouring of God’s Spirit upon us and our generation. We pray that God may crown our homes with grace, mercy and peace. We pray for the salvation of our loved ones. We pray that righteousness may cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. Let’s be people who pray.

Prayer: Father, in Your mercy, hear our prayer. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

* (Romans 8:15) The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

* (Romans 8:14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

* (Acts 1:8) But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit comes upon you: and you shall be witnesses to Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

* (John 16:13) When He, the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth.

* (Galatians 5:22-23) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance..

Prayer: Holy Spirit, oh how we long for You, come and liberate us, empower us, lead us, guide us, and transform us from glory to glory, so that, we can live that abundant life You have for us, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
