NICOL RAGLAND ~ OKLAHOMA ASSOCIATION OF CONSERVATION DISTRICTS

“Black and Indigenous communities are some of the originators of many of the technologies we cherish in the sustainable and regenerative world of agriculture.

Things like raised beds, composting, rotational grazing and credit unions all were created by Black and Indigenous folks.

And yet even after the emancipation proclamation and so-called end of slavery, many BIPOC communities have continued to suffer oppression throughout many different cycles.

In deep gratitude to be documenting the work of The Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts and their program called C.A.R.E - Conservation and Agriculture Reach Everyone.

A project to provide information, training, funding opportunities and technical assistance to socially disadvantaged and veteran farmers and ranchers.

Stay tuned.. short film to come.” - Nicol

An upcoming event featuring the work of Tinker*Artist NICOL RAGLAND, along with several other artists, is coming soon to Boley, Oklahoma. More from Nicol below: "The Smithsonian traveling exhibit 'Museum on Main Street - Crossroads: Change in Rural America' is coming to BOLEY, OKLAHOMA. 'Museum on Main Street' is a one-of-a-kind cultural project that combines the prestige of Smithsonian exhibits, the program expertise of Oklahoma Humanities, and the remarkable volunteerism and unique histories of Oklahoma's rural towns. It remains as one of the 13 black towns in Oklahoma rich with not only Oklahoma history but American history. MoMS exhibits are a powerful catalyst – opening doors to a community’s own history, its culture, its people, and to enhance town pride. May 14, 2022 til June 25, 2022 To learn more about the lineup of events, please visit thetownofboley.org"
