I really adore the studious/nerd and jock thing they have going, and the whole fun loving x over thinker trope.
I also enjoy the characterization of James being immature (and honestly kind of a bully, lets admit it) at first when he was younger but matures which helps Lily realize he’s a genuinely good person (ego the size of a lake but with a heart to match)+ James always had a crush on her because he genuinely admired her for who she was instead of his crush being purely physical attraction.
I like to imagine they were good friends for a week or two in their first year (with mutual growing crushes) then snape came in and ruined everything, and james got petty and their friendship got… complicated. But they still obviously cared for each other. (“She hated him!” “Nah, she didn’t.”)
I feel like she’d often over think situations and james would be there to help her through it because he has this sense of stability and bravery to him, like he always knows what to do (even when he usually doesnt). I feel like everyone looks up to him for how sure he always is about everything, when in reality he’s just as scared as everyone else.

oh my god i just saw ur insta story abt hate on fanart and UGH that also just happened to me for the first time (unreasonably mean comment under my art. also about james being too dark wtf), so it struck a chord. i really don't understand where some people's audacity comes from because how do you look at a post you don't like and not just scroll? it's not necessary to comment & disagree. fanartists draw self-indulgent pieces of art and decide to share it and their passion for a subject instead of gatekeeping and people fucking hate?? just draw something yourself instead of shitting on an artists ability or perspective...

Yes! I feel very seen! And I agree, some people in this fandom forget fanart is a free thing and that they have no right to demand anything from artist (very similar to how they treat fanfic writers I've noticed). Even comments that aren't meant to be rude can come across as rude when comparing artists to one another. It is very disheartening and the main reason I stopped posting art in the first place. But the internet is the internet I guess

If I'm being honest, I don't know too much about those characters other than the small information given in canon and I don't read much work centered around them. Maybe in the future! I know I do want to do more portraits,, however Reg, Lily, Mary and Marlene are kind of my main priority right now. Who knows though! I've done Dorcas art in the past it's online somewhere, and I think Pandora is cute
