UNDER THE CHAIR! DOZENS! THERE'S AN EYE PEEKING THROUGH THE WINDOW!!! THE D O L L ! ! ! ! ! THE DOLL AIMED! AT! HIS! BED!!!

Finished the new CRK story the other day and am having thoughts.

The whole like. Sadistic fixation Shadow Milk very clearly has on Pure Vanilla Cookie. And PV’s complete and utter nonreaction to it. But PV still saw a genuine loneliness and heartache deep within him that he was attempting to resolve by subjecting him to such abuse- and then PV did the thing that enraged Shadowmilk the most, and forgave him.

In the end, as PV points out, he’s the only one who can truly understand him. By succumbing to the depths of deceit and understanding him well enough to trick him, he was able to look inside his soul and see not a god but a man. And Pure Vanilla lives only to serve mankind. Which just makes Shadowmilk seethe, because he’s above humanity. He’s a god of chaos and deceit. And Pure Vanilla has the audacity to view himself as a peer.

In the end only PV can understand him, but he can never feel what he’s feeling. Pure Vanilla does not entertain his sadistic lust with groveling. He does not dignify his tantrum over losing his domain with ruthlessness. At every turn, Pure Vanilla is true to his word. He will not falter.

That’s exactly why he can never give Shadow Milk what he wants out of a relationship with him. As his personality stands, Shadow Milk is incapable of true friendship. He wants Pure Vanilla as an obedient servant, someone who he can break down for entertainment but who’ll still remain by his side with loyalty. And Pure Vanilla just.. wouldn’t sink low enough for that. He respects himself too much. He respects other people too much. He would only ever accept a friendship based off of such mutual respect, and the fact that Shadow Milk Cookie genuinely believed Pure Vanilla would fall as far as to serve him, is the very reason that Pure Vanilla would never actually do that.
