On November 7, 2024, Denmark used a racist, culturally biased "parenting competency" test to remove a 2 hour old baby, Zammi, from her loving indigenous Greenlandic Inuit mother, Keira, because her native language, which uses minute facial expressions to communicate, will not be able to "[prepare] the child for the social expectations and codes that are necessary to navigate in Danish society." This test had been recommended not to be used at the federal level before this happened but certain municipalities, including the one this happened in, chose to continue to use it regardless. Not only is this blatantly racist but also violates multiple declarations and conventions that Denmark has signed that protect the rights of indigenous people.

Fear forced me to tell you that I have been living through a genocidal war for more than 10 months. I am Habib from Gaza. I am married and have four children: Menna, 12 years old, Adam, 10 years old (suffering from quadriplegia), Maria, 6 years old, and Ezz, one year old. Although they are young, they have survived previous wars, but this current war is the most difficult of all. Living in tents is miserable. There is a lack of drinking water, hot sun rays, and strange insects that have terrified my children. I am Ahmed Halas from the besieged North Gaza, I have created my campaign to help my family and save them from the suffering they are living. Our lives, hopes and ambitions have been destroyed, our livelihood has been destroyed, we have lost dear friends and many relatives, our house has been completely destroyed, we live in a plastic tent in the middle of an UNRWA school and we suffer from the heat of the sun which causes headaches, migraines, body allergies and many diseases. There is no food, water, medicine or basic life requirements and the prices are terribly high, we cannot afford to buy anything.

Trees aren't a phylum or an order or anything like that, being a tree is just a thing some plants do

It's been described as a biological strategy - you want light, an efficient way to do that is put all the bits of you that want light (that is, leaves) high up so they're not in the shadow of other things, spread out both to cover a wide area and so they're not in their own shade, because that would be a waste of leaf

So the same shape of doing this has evolved independently dozens of times - crabs have nothing on trees. But this also leads to disagreement as to what a tree even is
