your haggard breath along with the silly grin spreading on your lips each time you took a step forward did not go unnoticed by the male.
even if silence was the reply you gave to his question.
“did you only just left?”
a faint chuckle.
“or are you waiting for the train?”
a hum, albeit one that ended on a higher pitch, told him that this will probably last longer than his usual calls with you.
“are you making me guess, y/n?”
you nodded, knowing he would’ve understood it anyway. he always do. and that’s what get you all giddy and in love.
because you love how he just knows.
and that’s why this is your favorite game, a game in which he would willingly partake if it makes you happy (even if he may not understand the reason as to why).
“have you alighted? i don’t hear the rattling anymore.”
it was in little things like this—details he naturally would pay attention to—that made you feel safe.
“watch your steps if you are climbing the bridge. don’t take two at a time just because you want it to be over soon.”
a snicker—that sounded more like a snort—for getting caught even when you’re trying to do it slowly so it did not hinder your breath.
“look at both sides of the road before you cross the street.”
kita shifted the phone to his other ear, hands busy with the fresh vegetables on the chopping board.
it was easy for him to read you. after all, you wore your heart on your sleeves. the way your breath, your voice, your subtle action that flows together in harmony to each of your different emotions.
he could watch you all day with a smile on his face.
“don’t forget to—”
“i know.”
a soft chuckle escaped his lips when you interrupted.
“i have yet to finish my sentence, y/n.”
“but i already know.”
“and that is?”
he knew it in his heart as well.
perhaps that was why he didn’t mind playing this favorite game of yours, for the last bit will always be his favorite;
“i’m home.”
you would whisper ever so softly with your arms wrapped around his chest in a tight embrace.

1. frühjahrsmüdigkeit (akutagawa) • fluff
i remember in vivid clarity the day i wrote this. unable to get out of bed, i felt as though life itself was passing me by. high noon, 1 pm, 2 pm, and so forth. if there’s anything i’m proud of on this blog, it’s this little number—because i truly believe that as a creator, no time is ever “wasted.” any and every experience is usable material. every waking moment of life is worthy, universal, and valuable, all at once ⭐️
2. kilig (akutagawa) • fluff
this wasn’t my first time writing for aku, but it sure felt like it. i spend so much time in dazai’s headspace that it unnerved me to switch gears and describe a tsun-tsun crush all of a sudden. i’m glad i did.
3. dépaysement (dazai) • fluff/angst
this oneshot just breaks my own heart. i’m basically haunted by the concept of dazai at this point. it’s honestly hard to revisit the image of a sleepless dazai; i don’t have it in me to re-read this one.
4. self conscious fem s/o in swimsuit (chuuya, dazai, kunikida) • fluff
i had sooo much fun making these headcanons 😭 they’re short but sweet—my favorite way to write.
5. kaapshljmurslis (ranpo) • fluff
the response i got to this fic absolutely floored me. having scrutinized every single word choice upwards of a dozen times, i had no expectations whatsoever when i posted it. thank goodness for that little voice of reason—“you worked so hard on it. you better share it with the world.” i haven’t hesitated to click the post button ever since.
i couldn’t end this list without linking one of my low budget memes 🤡 this one is easily my favorite.

1. roadtripping back in time | kuroo tetsurou
i mentioned that this fic was inspired by elina’s song titled paper planes but i did not mention that i wrote the majority of this on mobile while i was on a long drive home snjksjs i remember squinting at my phone so hard because it was dark outside and the ambience was really comfy :3 but also i really enjoy writing stuff that has some kind of friendly/teasing banter! this is one of them
2. love as told in the colours of sunsets | iwaizumi hajime
honestly this fic is like pure metaphors HAHAHA i really don’t know what i was on when i was writing this because i still don’t know how i came up with them. and i like metaphors :3 there’s no solid plot to this though so i understand why it got less attention compared to my usual LOL but i really enjoyed writing this!
3. under the same stars | kageyama tobio
i tried a new writing style in this fic,, it’s separated into parts and each starts with the corresponding number etc etc. it so fun to right but i spent so long checking if the fic was cohesive snksksks but again this is one of the other fics with like cute cheesy banter kinda and it’s one of the dialogues that actually feel natural to me? feel free to think otherwise tho haha
4. silhouettes | oikawa tooru
ok so quick backstory but basically we were doing some analysis on this piece by this author (i’ll link it but it’s in mandarin, there are translations below tho) and this piece shares the same title but it’s in english! i kinda rush wrote this in conjunction w oikawa’s birthday but the response i got after posting this was overwhelming? i think this is the piece w the most notes on my blog hhh thank u all <3
5. (sans) goodbye | sugawara koushi
i just enjoy writing angst lmao byeeeee
on a more serious note tho i guess this was more of a vent fic for me? it’s pretty personal to me and i just had to vent somewhere and hence this fic was born teehee and ngl i kinda like it
6. clair de lune | tsukishima kei
aka light of the moon | moon glowing :3 this scene was based off a scene in the kaguya-sama love is war manga? i’m so unoriginal hh i tried making a series abt like fics inspired by classical music but i ran out of ideas yk? :/ but it’s kinda angsty cute and i like sick s/o aus AND let’s not forget soff tsukki
7. there’s one more i kinda like and it’s a chuuya wip and an au in which you are also in the mafia higher ups :3 i’m at about 900 words but tbh i’m stuck and it feels kinda incomplete :1 i also realised that i haven’t written bsd a whole lot hahaha i will get to this soon :3

One winter ago. That’s when it all started. The falling snow that you saw outside your room made you remember.
The snowfall had been very heavy that year too. It was only December but the world was already drawn in a pretty white.
Outside of the university is when you got to know him first. Got to know him… well… that might be a too far-fetched word but it came close.
You had just been done with your last class and was on your way home, walking instead of taking the bus. Your friends had been long gone, having skipped the last class.
With some music ringing in your ears, you were getting a little distracted — a little too much. Not too much to get so distracted that traffic would get the better of you, but still distracted.
When suddenly you got an immense blow from the back. Air left your lungs with a shock and you had to cough to regain your posture. You had stumbled a little forward, and with nothing to hold you upwards, you nearly fell to the ground. Good balance came a long way.
You wiped off your clothes and put up a glare as you flipped your head around to stare daggers into the person who just attacked you with whatever that was. A quick glance on the ground made you notice a small heap on top of the snow—
Ah. So it had been a snowball, huh…
You broke into a sweat glaring at that person. You had to suppress your urges not to gather some snow into a snowball for yourself and attack that person.
And you failed to suppress it. In an instant, your hands flew down to the ground, making a snowball and firing it off with the person in your sight. Enough to wipe that stupid grin off his face.
Got him there.
You were so fed up with this entire situation you turned around again and left for home again.
The person didn’t engage with you again. As he should.

"that's nice," he laughed, "were you expecting me to say it back?"
"come on tetsu, it's been a few months since we last met in person."
“i dunno about that, i remember seeing you on video a few days ago.”
“that doesn’t count,” you pouted, poking his arm while you were at it.
before you could say something further, he held your chin between his pointer and middle finger and swiftly bent down to kiss you, just barely missing your lips.
"what a tease," you laughed. "i'm plotting my revenge."
'quit with the banter, you know you planned other things with me," he slyly said, a smirk forming on his lips.
'oh, like what?" you innocently asked.
you could swear you saw his eyes flicker for a second, before he waved his hands in the air as if brushing off the months he spent away.
"you know, you did say you wanted to visit the rest of the volleyball team as an alumni," he replied.
"so the ex-captain doesn't even want to see them? damn, must be really hard for them," you joked.
"come on kitten, you know i'm just kidding," he laughed, "we'd better get some snacks and drinks for them, y'know? practice is really tiring."
that's the kuroo you always knew- despite always seeming like he's such a carefree and reckless person, not to say that he was none of those, there was always this side of him that always cared for the people around him in the simplest of ways.
although being recognised only by the first-years back in his days as the captain, he was still welcomed just as warmly, as if he'd known them for years- whenever he paid a visit, he'd always bring them something to eat- it was his way of showing his care for them.
as he always says, "food is always a good thing to bond over."
it was heartwarming, to say the least, to see him chatting away happily with his juniors, talking about everything from team strategies to his fond memories of the matches he played in high school. it made you happy knowing that you were part of those memories, being the team manager at that time.
you could say it was unexpected, but it really wasn't- as much as the two of you kept on insisting that whatever you had between the two of you was nothing more than genuine friendship, the team never stopped shipping the two of you together, making sure to not bother the two of you whenever you talked, even if it was about club matters or him giving orders- they all grinned from ear to ear when they heard that the two of you were together.
"so you finally acknowledged your feelings for them? that's cute," they said in awe.
"what do you mean finally? i've had my eye on them since day one."
