So, I ventured into perusing Twitter and Instagram, and boy I wish I hadn’t; I am super disappointed to see my Owl House stuff reposted on there. =____= I have specified for my Zutara peeps, that a little bit of indulgent screencapping of my Zutara fan animatics is fine… but that’s all in good fun, and they’re full on videos, so it’s sort of interesting to see what frames people tend to latch on to. But taking my professional work which are single images, not animatics, and reposting it (even with credit but especially without asking) I find pretty disrespectful, and I wish people wouldn’t do it, please. I know people aren’t doing it maliciously, and I’m glad people like the drawings, but I have an instagram and twitter account now so if I think things are worth posting on those platforms, I will do it myself. No need to take things from my tumblr and reupload without permission.
I don’t mean to whine, but it really bums me out. =_=
EDIT: and I know this is just… like screaming into the void, because internet is going to internet and people are going to do what they want. But I figured I’d put it on record how I feel about it.
Also! I will say, that I have had people message me directly to ask to repost things and/or use images for headers/profiles on other platforms. And I’m usually pretty agreeable when asked first. It’s the people who take it without asking who are making it unfun for the rest who are doing absolutely fine. But asking first and directly is preferable. But a sidenote, I am a bit flexible and wonky with my own rules (my own fault because I find it hard to be an absolutist), but I generally don’t want my tumblr art being used for other people’s tumblr profiles. Just thought I’d put that out there. And honestly, because I’m sure it is, if any of this is confusing, please ask. I try to be open! But I just really had to get all this off my chest. Thanks!
And as said in the comments on this post, posting a direct link is not reposting to me. Reposting consists of saving the images and reuploading them to a different profile. And I have my own personal reasons for trying to keep things centralized on Tumblr. I don’t really like Twitter or Instagram because too many people are on them. I kind of liked my own little obscure corner here on tumblr ToT
