Not the weird racially insentive Jacob of eclipse, but the kind happy Jacob of new moon. The Jacob who was Bella’s best friend, who she felt comfortable being with, who reminded her of the sun and home. Imagine if the point to twilight was for Bella to look at the cold unchanging perfection of Edward and the soft human impermenace of Jacob and then choose to remain human. To realise that at the end of the day, you cannot stay a teenager forever and be happy and that she needed to change to grow. Imagine if the choice was between life and death, between the potential for change and being trapped one way forever. I can’t help but feel that would be a more satisfying ending than her giving up her humanity to be young and beautiful with no repercussions.

I love the idea of jake keeping bella warm since she’s cold a lot of the time but I hate that it was forced in eclipse. it could’ve been done so much better where it was more bella’s choice to be near jake to get warm, like in new moon when they’re in her truck after he saves her from the water and he says “108 degrees over here” and she just slides on over and clings to him. she could reflect more on how being with jake could keep her warm. not just physically, but her heart too. I mean she literally says “he makes me feel alive” in her email to alice
