Gift of understanding / Understanding the Gift 👁Isabel Briggs Myers (#INFP) is a writer and co-creator with her mother, Katharine Cook Briggs, the now increasingly popular Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (#MBTI).

Isabel reveled in people’s differences and believe that most arguments are merely misunderstandings.

She wrote a book about the MBTI, Gifts Differing, and talked about the underlying concepts with her son, Peter Briggs Myers. One of her goals was to help people understand how they might best contribute to the world around them through the type indicator

Alfred Adler 🧐 was a physician and psychiatrist who is famously known for individual psychology and inferiority complex.

He was a colleague of Freud’s, and helped establish psychoanalysis.  His theory focused on looking at the individual as a whole, which is why he referred to his approach as individual psychology.

#Cognition 🧠 is simply the action of your mind as it acquires and processes information.

It’s comprised of the mental processes that are involved in:

 ✅ Perception

 ✅ Attention

 ✅ Memory

 ✅ Problem Solving

 ✅ Reasoning

 ✅ Decision making

This is important to remember as we relate and talk about “Cognitive Functions” in the next coming weeks.

Sigmund Freud 🆔 is the father of psychoanalysis, a theory of how the mind works. 🧠

His ideas, although some of which were controversial, are interwoven into the fabric of our culture – from terms like Freudian slip, repression, and denial.

Some of his theories include the unconscious mind, personality, psychosexual development, & defense mechanisms.

Carl Jung was influenced by Freud’s work and they collaborated for a number of years. We can see Freud’s work overlap in Jung’s succeeding works among many famous psychoanalysts and personality theorists.

You might’ve encountered or used this word a lot,  especially in the context of personality typing, but ever wondered what it truly means?
