When you're wearing a poncho, no one knows who you are. What are you hiding. Maybe you're heavily armed, maybe you have a kavat hidden in your bosom, maybe you're a kavat yourself, or maybe you're carrying 5 bottles of ostron booze past your Overly Strict Younger Brother into the orbiter. Who knows.
The poncho is also warm, looks cool and can serve as a sleeping bag. Solid advantages and quality assurance, all 100500 Drifters of alternate universes approves.

Do the Drifter/Operator go back to sharing a body whenever the Drifter goes back to the future? That must be weird to be the Operator having your older self out of your head and they pop back in randomly (because they had a fight with their girlfriend/boyfriend).
I'd like to think the Void has some weird thing where it works when it needs to work. So I think during Lotus Eaters we got em both at the same time. But that's just me liking that idea.
I remembered that there was a mention of this in the Operator Report! I just want to share, it's quite short, though.
"The Tenno has been freed from their recursive timeline and now coexists with the Drifter."
And as I understand it by this "coexists" (don't consider game mechanics), they somehow solved this problem of being in the same space in their own bodies behind the scenes. With absolutely no details. Which, as we can see, is happening in the Lotus Eaters. And since there are no details, we are free to invent our own >:D (or stop at the original option bc sharing is caring hehe)
Although I haven't read all the dialogues from 1999, so maybe I missed something?? Please tell me if yes
