The comic itself is a fantasy coming-of-age type story that started off as me and a friend just rambling about D&D character backstories. It's now neither D&D nor a backstory and we're having a blast

Yeah it doesn't bother me that much but I do think it's not a great way to engage with artists. I understand feeling a little disappointed if an artist you like pivots to content you're not into but then you have two choices: staying for the ride or leaving and moving on 🤷‍♂️

The third option of trying to guilt trip or beg the artist to do a specific content will never land well imo (some of these requests make me Actively draw less of a thing out of annoyance lmfao so it might even backfire)

I honestly thought it only existed on Patreon, which don't get me wrong, is your decision and you absolutely deserve to be paid for your work. That being said, Patreon is unfortunately not really available where I live atm (as well as most other websites and platforms where one would need to pay) and also I'm poor, so I was just idly wondering, if the comic would ever be uploaded with free access or that there would finally come the time when I would be able to pay and read it.

The plan wasn't to ALWAYS have it behind a paywall, and I do want to share it with a wider audience with time. But when I decided to self-publish/make this my full(er) time project I really did need to establish Patreon as the lifeline and still want to make sure supporters get their money's worth 😔

The way it'll work now is Patreon will always be at least a whole volume ahead (so around 1-2 years' worth of chapters) and I'll try and sync that with earlier chapter releases on webtoon etc, then see how that goes

Yeah I wasn't sure what the vibe was gonna be so I was poking around vaguely to see if it'd be very outrageous to be arcana brainrotted in 2025 lmao. The amount of people who came out saying they also randomly decided to pick it back up took me by surprise for sure but I'm here for it

My current plan is to reread Asra's route, be only slightly insufferable about it, rinse and repeat 🫣

Sry me and the other anon seem to share the fear of our favorite characters just… not being made by their creators anymore in exchange for content were just not interested in and need some reassuring lol sry if it seems selfish just clarifying for that other user

As long as there's an OC involved you'll see them again (so yes staeve and astarion are still very much a thing in my heart and if inspiration strikes I'll draw them)

I'm not a fanartist by default or someone who feels inspired to draw something just because people want to see it so it's best if you stick around for the vibes rather than for a specific type of content or character

Out of curiosity, since then have you played Portia, Muriel, or Lucio's routes, or do you plan to? Especially since they are much quicker to complete with having less chapters. (I could not bring myself to get far into Lucio's route I felt too bad, but I did Muriel's. And it was pretty sweet.)

The style I use these days is a lot simpler (usually at most 3 layers) but the logic remains that I first pick a background, then use it to inform the lighting:

Sometimes it takes some adjusting because layer modes (multiply, glow dodge, etc) affect each other and the final tones you see
