Forever mad that people continue to shit on "stargender" as an example of an outlandish nonbinary identity. Women and men have claimed the sun and moon a million times over in different configurations. Why shouldn't we be beautiful, infinitely varied stars?? Which are also sometimes suns and moons and planets! What about our heavenly bodies makes you cringe?
There is no such thing as an identity that is too outlandish - that is just reusing the same statist neoliberal logic that makes non-binary, trans, or gay "outlandish"
True — an identity being outlandish, rare, or eccentric is no reason to invalidate it. Centering common experiences of gender while deriding more unusual ones is an expression of the same framework that positions abled bodies / minds as superior, and rejects Disabled ones (to call back to the post my post was reacting to, about accepting Autistic and just plain weird people in all their variety). But I don't agree that it's specifically neoliberal to value looking/acting/identifying "normally" (where what is considered normal is determined by the people in power) — that's plain old marginalization that hits queer, trans, nonbinary, and Disabled people all alike.
