~ Here's a lil' snip from one of my ongoing noir illustration "passion project" for human Alastor—something I’ve been piecing together for months now. It’s been a challenge pushing against the limits of my skill and time, but I’m willed to see it through😤. I first considered the idea early last year, yet I haven’t made as much progress as I’d like.
Hoping to finally dive back into it soon, and I'm lowkey wishing that maybe, just maybe... the second season of Hazbin will drop right on time as I wrap it up too. Just can’t wait for it! 😭

I love Alastor being a mamas boy, and seeing your kid Al with her is just so sweet.
I imagine she kind of raised Al by herself ("🎶Sadly there are times a birth parent is a dud 🎶" ) so little Al learned cooking and cleaning and mending and all those other helpful little skills to assist around the house.
What would Alastor do if any of the Vees bad-mouthed her behind her back?

🤍🤍🤍 Bad-mouthing his mama is a serious offense to Al (in this AU, and I like to think in canon too). No doubt, he'd throw hands right away. Forget about plotting of revenge or getting back at them. Just pure anger and fury unleashed instant.

1) I ADORE your Minimaniacs AU!! They all look perfect and it’s so fun to imagine Alastor and Rosie being absolute MENACES!

(1) Ahhh! The Minimaniacs AU is very dear to me. It's wonderful to hear and read about the love for it. I don't plan on orphaning this AU; I'd like to develop more concepts for its world as soon as I finish my backlog. Which to my horror, that still seems quite far off 😭
(2) And Sweetie, don't worry! That's a misplaced brushstroke. My bad! Mini Al is definitely more prone to inflict damage on others than on himself, that's for sure.

Big shoutout to veramitar, who was a delight to work with for this commission and made something knock-out gorgeous. Look at them. LOOK AT THEM. Just breathtaking! If you haven't soaked in the Skrunkle King on veramitar's page, you should. The manic smile is just so good.

I’ve had such a blast getting to know @feynwiddershins characters, Tissy and their human version of Alastor, and bringing them to life in their world. Fact: Tissy's expression was definitely the trickiest part to nail down. I kept bouncing back and forth between her and the rest of the scene, trying to balance everything out. It’s like, how do you convey such a complex emotion while keeping it so subtle? It took some time, but I’m really happy with how it turned out! 🤍

- Canon Alastor seems indifferent toward children, and it's hard to say what goes in his mind when he's around them. But if such a meeting were to happen, I like to imagine he'd be quite charmed. Given his unconventional tastes, he might be sinisterly inspired, mentally jogging through recipes while Rosie tends to the, uh, meat. Cannibalism aside, it's a picture-perfect playdate.💜

Minimaniacs is still on, mate! I don't plan to orphan them anytime soon. Just give me time to get over my Human Alastor works before I can get back on board with our favorite gremlins🙏 I also want to let you know that I'll be posting my original works, so expect a shift in the content posted from here on out.

Your rendering and use of foreground blur (specifically in the radio man piece and the arrow drawing) are incredible, could you speak a bit to your process when it comes to rendering works like those ? You are kick arse
I'm really fond of the Bokeh effect. They make flat visuals dimensional and more alive. It almost mimics the way we naturally view things in the real world; where we focus our sight on one thing at a time and the rest are blurred. It also makes the picture appear as if you're there in the same space where and when the shot was taken. And digitally, nothing emulates this effect as seamlessly and efficiently as Filters✨
Basically, just top a Blur filter on the element/layer. In the Radio Man piece, I used Motion Blur and Gaussian together for the trumpet (foreground element)--But not before converting the layer of the foreground element into a Smart Object. AFAIK, in Photoshop, filters are rasterized into a regular layer when applied, making the effect irreversible unless you undo it immediately. If you're beyond several commands after applying it, Ctrl+Z won't help you.
