terezi being desparate for love from any source no matter the harm she faces because she does not love herself and the only way she can see that shes lovable is thru other peoples eyes VS vriska begging for people to hate her as much as she hates herself and sabatoging her relationships because she believes shes incapable of being loved
the key to understanding vrisrezi is that theyre equally bad. terezi is viewed better because self-preseevation and self-image are huge parts of how she talks to others. vriska forgoes the niceties and isnt all that shy about being honest about her atrocities, especially in hindsight. terezi represses, holds her facade strong, and begs to be loved while not letting herself be known. vriska releases, and her facade crumbles easily under earnest or destructive circumstances. they are quite lirerally two sides of the same machiavellian coin
