I'm in Athens rn and this afternoon I went to the Museum of Ancient Greek Technology and there was a room dedicated to armors, so I'm here to show you all Odysseus's armor.
Ody's the one on the right, the one on the left is Achilles's.
And I personally think it's funny. Like, how can you take seriously someone with all that color on his armor. It looks like a carnival costume (not that Achilles's with that helmet with 4 horns isn't funny too). And I know I'm probably biased bc of course we don't see this type of armor on a daily basis, but still.
There were also Agamemnon, Menelaus, Hector and a few real ones (like Alexander the Great) and these things were HUGE (and all of them with weird helmets). This is probably why the the Trojan war lasted 10 years. Cus it took longer to put on armors than to fight actual battles lmao
What I love to point out when I am comparing the two apart of course from the intricate patterns is the protection.
Odysseus wears his armor long. Making sure he is covered as much as possible. Which is characteristic of his prudent nature and he makes a good combo for stealth and speed but he values more stealth
Achilles wears his armor shorter. Valuing speed over stealth. Characteristic of his that he is a warrior who values heroic battle more than protection or that he has more faith in his skills in battle.
Very good job in conveying that
