Illustration of Satine, Obi-Wan, and Baby Luke from Chapter 9 of my Satine centric Obitine fic “Dawn of the Empire”
This scene takes place in a freighter cargo hold, while the Kryze Kenobi Fam™️ are on the run from the Empire, and Luke Skywalker must be taken to Tatooine.
This fanfiction follows Satine after she survives the events of ‘The Lawless’ and ‘Revenge of the Sith.’ She must unite Mandalore to resist the ever growing threat of the Empire, and she must protect her own Secrets while wrestling with her and Obi-Wan’s crumbling trust. Emperor Palpatine, Gar Saxon, and Obi-Wan’s absence pose a challenge, and even with the title of Mand’Alor, her story is not over.
Gorgeous!

A little end of the weekend signal boost!
Happy Valentine's day to them and only them💕❤️
Another great one for these love birds!
“Can I ask you something, Padawan Kenobi?”
Satine’s voice pulled him back to reality. He turned, blinking the water from his eyes. She was standing near, staring at him. He stiffened. She was close, so close that the space between them felt unnaturally small.
The sunlight filtered through the trees, dancing on the surface of the water, creating an almost hypnotic effect.
Her wet hair danced around her shoulders, floating gracefully on the surface. Her eyes gleamed, reflecting the luminosity cast upon the face of the waters.
And his heart, at that moment, wished time stood still, as he stared into the flame that burned within her eyes.
Almost a kiss.
This is how love happens.
This is really lovely!

Does Obi-Wan still think of Satine, even after all those years on Tatooine?
Of course he thinks of her. He thinks of things she said. He reads books and poems she loved. He can hear her voice, both the sweet things she saved just for him in the rare moments they stole to be alone, as well as the things she said in the heat of their arguments. The heated things make him laugh, now. She was so Mandalorian, he thinks. She fought as viciously with her words as her sister did with her blasters and fists.
When he trims his beard he thinks of her, and her little comment that one time on Coruscant. He sometimes wonders if he should shave it off. Of course, it would maybe make him look less like General Obi-Wan Kenobi- an important thing these days- but also it would be more like how he was when they were together, young and foolish and hopelessly in love. He doesn't, because he can still feel her fingers run through his beard, smiling that little smile- a thing she did not do enough- and he doesn't want to lose a fraction of that memory. He has so many awful memories; he must hold especially tight to the sweet ones.
Of course he thinks of her. Most of the time, he tries to keep his memories of her to her. Her voice, the feel of her lithe body against his, the texture of her hair, the things she said and did that made her so uniquely Satine. But sometimes, on particularly dark nights, when his mind hadn't had enough of just torturing him with all the things that went so terribly wrong with Anakin, he thinks of that horrible, awful day on Mandalore, and all the things he did wrong there. He thinks of all the things he could have done differently. He thinks of all the things he should have said to her.
Of course he thinks of her. Because she holds both his happiest memories and his worst. And he is forever grateful and forever heartbroken because of it.
Ouch.
I was just thinking about in The Lawless when Obi-Wan says “I do my own bidding.” That’s one of my favorite Obi-Wan lines, but I’ve never really thought that much of it until just now. First and foremost it’s a beautifully clever and flirtatious quip in response to Satine’s question, so I think that’s why I haven’t put much deeper thought into it. But what Obi-Wan says is true, and VERY symbolic of the beginning of the episode, as well as the entire history of Obi-Wan and Satine’s relationship.
Obi-Wan has always been under some form of authority, and in this specific time he has other Jedi Masters who would be considered of higher rank than he, such as Yoda, Mace, Ki-Adi-Mundi, etc. But most importantly, Obi-Wan is under the Jedi Code. The Code is his “master,” he does its “bidding.” In the beginning of The Lawless, Obi-Wan wrestles with inner conflict because the Jedi Masters tell him he cannot go to Mandalore due to the situation being an internal affair. ON TOP OF THAT, he desperately wants to go save Satine, the woman he has a romantic attachment to, which is strictly against the Jedi Code. So what does he do? Obi-Wan does his own bidding. He defies the orders of the Jedi Masters, he neglects the Code, and claims to Satine that he does his own bidding. Boom. So yes, while it’s a clever response, and would be perfectly perfect without any symbolic implication, it is far more profound and meaningful because of the truth it holds.
thank you for listening to me rant😌
Have this drawing of young Obi-Wan and Satine that I drew in celebration of the one year anniversary of @high-fantasy-sw :D
