she always talks about how she became a samurai to follow in her father's footsteps and how proud she is of his legacy and I just think it would be interesting if when she was young she was pushed to follow her father's footsteps because they thought she was a boy, and people changed their tune once she came out but she insisted on following the same path anyway because it's what she wanted. and there was a lot of opposition to her becoming one of Sakura's retainers supposedly due to her lack of experience and Sakura defied them all by choosing Hana as her retainer anyway. perhaps the objection could be phrased as ohhh she's so inexperienced but it was actually people trying to hide their bigotry. it's not like the other retainers are much older or anything

queer fandoms have gotta stop acting like the only path to queer happiness is through a relationship. It's reductive and exclusionary.
