got anteros and butterfly symbolism on my mind again. the transformation of the self, of how he dies and comes back. chrysalis requiring the caterpillar’s body be broken down and completely remade. transformation from decay.

decay still being a form of existence; even if you “come back wrong” you still came back.

re: the tags on my last post. the ideal sr undercover is two sr1 DLCs in one package, one from troy’s POV and the other from lin’s POV. and it works under the single title bc they’re both undercover. the storylines can even converge bc troy and lin cross paths and even have a mission together (sorta). seeing that event from their respective lens…we can make this real…

thinking about the anonymous interview monroe forced troy to do during sr1……the fact he kept a copy of it in his journal…..whatever

again it’s like. i find monroe and troy’s dynamic so interesting bc when you read troy’s journal he makes it so clear monroe always singles him out. there’s such an obvious disdain for each other.

allegedly there’s more undercover amongst the gangs but i tend to read that more as shorthand for the connections between the SPD and the vice kings. i think monroe knows troy is his best undercover agent and that’s really frustrating for him.

#ideally sr undercover would be the troy bradshaw DLC #there’s just so much left to explore in sr1 #in my dreams there’s full sr1 DLC from troy and lin’s perspectives. i will manifest this

god comparing sr2 anteros to pre-sr1 anteros it’s like yeah ok i can see why torque did not and continues to refuse to recognize you.

which like. there’s so many levels of heartbreak there bc anteros woke up and went to TnA first, he went to the place that was such an anchor for him. he was looking for torque and torque was not looking for him. anteros died five years ago. you are just some shambling corpse pretending to be alive.

i want their initial reunion during sr2 to not go how anteros imagines. i want him to see torque and say look i lived, i’m back, i missed you. and ultimately torque tells him yes, you survived. but you need to leave.

not to mention he gets a similar reaction from dex which is just. god. you survived! you cheated death! and all the people you loved don't wanna see you again! you've become unrecognizable to them! which makes anteros reconsider everything he’s experienced up to that point. maybe dex was right. maybe troy's just glad you're here so he doesn't have to feel guilty anymore.

i also think it’s interesting how (and this plays into the contention in that johnny and anteros oneshot) you can compare and contrast these feelings to someone like johnny. bc johnny is honestly the most ecstatic to know anteros is alive at first. but over time and as the plot progresses in sr2, there is a bitterness that begins to fester. like johnny and anteros would still die for each other, but you can’t deny how angry johnny feels towards anteros for causing so much misery to him personally. johnny blames anteros (and himself) for what happened to aisha. and i don’t think he’ll ever fully accept his grief, at least for a very long time (like not until modern day).

like there’s definitely this…ebb and flow to anteros’ dynamics, and honestly there’s no better examples of this than in his relationships with torque, dex, and johnny. love to hate, hate to love. all just bc anteros didn’t die when he was supposed to.

i was thinking about the luck stat in fnv and i think it’d be really fun if they remade sr2 that there would be a difference in your chances of winning depending on if you play the machines in poseidon’s palace before or after the saints control the boardwalk. like if you play when the ronin still control it then you’re more likely to lose and if you play after the saints control the area you’re more likely to win. sr2 is already really good about lil details and touches and something small and subtle like a hidden luck mechanic would be so charming and fit right in

#also like i said the other day. if they remade it they Need to add more games in the casino this is non-negotiable #still beside myself you couldn’t even play slots in the reboot and i DO understand why it was that way. but still.

ok i was thinking about these lines again from sr2 and now i’m just wondering if anteros was ever told stuff like that when he worked at TnA. did a drunk executive tell him about the shady shit ultor was planning (and this is PRE sr1 even) and anteros was like. ok. anyway. then years later after they’ve infiltrated the pyramid/learned all this shit about ultor and all that he’s gonna wake up in the middle of the night so pissed he forgot about that

#100% some like idle NPC dialogue in the torque DLC #both from drunk patrons and then like an anteros idle line to torque like you wouldn’t believe what this one guy said to me the other nite.

Alright, I can't wait till I make a few more IC posts before I upload this. But holy shit, y'all need to see what @whoredmode made for me as a birthday present!!!!! This fucks so hard, and I can't thank him enough times for always doing such a SPECTACULAR JOB whenever he draws Django. LIKE DO Y'ALL SEE THIS???? IT'S SPECTACULAR.
