I feel like the abandonment of the face tracking models was the sign that they were pulling back from the gaming videos. I don’t like the Png tubers. It just looks cheap. Also I’m wondering if the company that backs the channel hasn’t been willing at any point to buy them games to play so it’s just been whatever the VAs had or could afford?

When Game Grumps started to take off they asked the fans to send them stuff to play. And some of my favorite videos of theirs were them attempting NES/SuperNES or old computer games.

It’s too bad they didn’t do an open call like that. Especially when there are all kinds of weird things on Steam that the fans could have gifted them. I really miss the ‘three scary games’ episodes for this reason.

But the gaming videos were the reason I started watching TSAMS! It was Eclipse’s little peek out during the Teardown vids that enticed me to give the lore part a shot. And abandoning that part of the channel also means more pressure on the writers because they never get a break from the lore videos. >:(

And the constant pressure from the VA being "if we don't get a trillion views on this gaming video within the first five minutes, I guess we'll never play another game ever again and it'll be your fault" ain't helping.

I get their own bitterness, being on pressure to entertain and have to obey the directions given to them for max algorithm, ain't fun. Not when also getting chewed out by fans too, while not getting the numbers required. It makes it all less fun to do, while they scramble to just stay productive.

But the tone getting passed on to the viewers gets to me sometimes

Also they can't keep shaming/blaming and soliciting their audience for views even if the company tells them that's something they need to do. It's directly against YouTube's terms of service.

And directly blaming the audience is a very bad look.

I remember once during a Livestream they said "just mute the video and play it on repeat at 2x speed"

This is directly against the terms of service to ask your Audience to do that.

It's called soliciting for views.

Not only that it's deeply unprofessional and it says to me "we don't care what we make for this channel at all, as long as your watching it "

I'm sure that wasn't the intention. It's just deeply unprofessional and disrespectful to their audience and I really hope they stop saying things like this that can get their channel terminated if they're not careful.

I don't want to be guilted or shamed into watching their content. I love the gaming videos, and these characters used to be a big comfort for me

but the tonal shift with them being critical and negative towards their audience, and generally just not sounding like they want to be there, makes ME not want to be there.

Mainly what bugs me is how they go about fan content and interacting with the fans. I love how Kat did it. She always complimented the artwork and validated the creators for their hard work. And while I get that that's Earth's character, it always came across as more genuine, as opposed to Davis and Reed, who sound like they're struggling not to call things cringe or stupid (Usually the things involving angst, or anything 'overly' wholesome.) I just feel like Davis and Reed have never really been kind to the fans. I understand the frustrating fans are going to leave a bad impression, but that's really not an excuse to treat us like a bunch of unruly children, and act like disgruntled customer service workers who have to put on a smile and bite their tongue.

They openly judge us for enjoying characters, sometimes, too. Condoning Bloodmoon's actions because he can do no wrong? Not a good thing. Liking Bloodmoon as a character and making content of him because you like him? You shouldn't be shamed for that.

I just feel like they're going through the motions at this point. They don't act like they actually want us here anymore. @willowshimmer also has some good points. I'm sorry- they said what???
