I was wondering whether the constellations would look any different on Mars, so I looked it up, and apparently not; galactically speaking Mars is so close to us that the difference is imperceptible. However, I did find this neat additional bit:

Continuing to think about like...the relationship between the twins and how that reflects in Dark.

Honestly like, all of WKM being centered around the relationships of one woman who is barely on screen. How each of the three men who are tied to her in some form, and their relationship with the concept of what it means to live, and how those words change and twist them with who they will become.

How Damien, Mark, and William all have a phrase about life. And Celine is a medium, talking to the dead.

Feelings.

Engi. My BELOVED. In the AU thoughts I have specifically, he's going fucking through it.

His grandfather is Actor. He got through all of ISWM, married and settled down with his Captain, and then saw how traumatized they still were after the events of everything, and he was worried about them...and then suddenly Actor shows up, convinces him to make a deal...brings them both to the modern day, and the Captain can't remember anything.

But if we're talking Eldritch Horror Engi? That man becomes the walking incarnation of cosmic horror.

Torn apart and rebuilt over countless realities, life and death in an unending cycle, where the very fiber of him is more warpcore than human. Seeing endless infinite possibilities and feeling them all at the same time, overlapping and constant, and if he doesn't like what's present, do you know how trivial it is to become more infinite impossibility to pull another timeline into the moment, wearing away more and more of his human self, the wear and marks of it paint and cracking through his skin? To become what it means to be starlight and spacedust in a faintly human skin, until emotion is a foreign concept...

I had THOUGHTS seeing this!

The implication that Dark is calculating, callous, sharp with everyone...that he's so cold because Celine is asleep and it's just Damien and Damien is done with everyone's shit. The one person who has been by his side since he was born, the person he turns to over everything, is asleep and with her, all the warmth he has ever known in his life.

Even in that cabin, he's out chopping wood, but he returns to the cabin and there's Celine and it's warm.

And then when she's not there? When it all finally breaks? He's cold, he's freezing, it's just snow and ice and dark water when he's trying to find her.

Dark is like this because the light of his heart's home is dark.
