Welcome to my little multi-fandom corner of the Tumblr-sphere! It’s my “dumping ground” of everything that strikes my (admittedly many) interests. Name is Megan (she/her, 30+, CST timezone) !

At the moment...

Some top obsessions you might find here are--

  • Empyrean Series ( Fourth Wing / Iron Flame / Onyx Storm... )
  • Grishaverse / Shadow & Bone ( main OTPs: Darklina, Darkolai )
  • SJM series : ACOTAR / CC / TOG / ( top OTPs: Feysand, Nessian, Elriel ; Nesta’s character journey especially = intense but wonderful )
  • Fantasy book-loving (and probably some ranting too) in general
  • Updates on my two cats, who are my whole world (mini!panther Xaden & mini!lion Sasha)
  • Disney (specifically Lion King)
  • Ben Barnes
  • (American) Politics

Currently--

Reading: Sunrise on the Reaping (Collins) Number of Books Read in 2025: Ten (10)
Music: Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift... Adele, Daughtry, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, select Musicals (like Wicked, Les Mis, Hamilton, Phantom of the Opera are currently in the top right now)...
(I’m a millennial, I have very eclectic music tastes, what can I say?)
Watching: while I have cut back on a lot of TV watching (like my mind just can’t seem to stay focused a great deal on a lot), some general faves are still Law & Order: SVU ; Yellowstone ; Outlander ; Doctor Who ; Bridgerton ; House of the Dragon

From April 2, 2024, to April 2, 2025.

Here's just a (very, very small selection) of Sasha’s journey as his entire FIRST YEAR with the family. He was such a tiny little fluff ball when he came home.

And now?

Now he’s a little lion. But big brother Xaden still looks out for him, though.

Happy GOTCHA DAY, Sasha!

(*top left is literally the night I brought him home on Apr.02.2024. and bottom right was taken exactly one year later, on Apr.02.2025.)

So I'm re-posting this from another of my social media accounts because hey, I have that ability. But fair warning -- Political talk incoming:

To all those who keep saying, “chill out. Trump & co aren’t as bad as you think. [Insert crime here] isn’t going to happen”, just let me say the following as a few counter arguments:

— You are assuming that the “rule of law” is going to stop them. They have shown they hold no regard for it.

— I’m pretty sure there were those in 1930s Germany who said the same thing. “It’s not going to be that bad; you’re overreacting”

History proved they did not, in fact, overreact.

I keep seeing arguments about "The Constitution says he can't do X, Y, Z" or "To do this needs Congressional Approval" or whatever else. Like somehow, THAT is going to stop these people.

They've already shown their regard for the law is zilch. That threatening to impeach federal judges isn't out of the ordinary for them. Even when the judicial branch says "no you can't do that, it's unconstitutional" -- right NOW, it's working. But we're still ONLY not even 3 full months in to a 4-year term.

When their counter argument is "the judicial branch shouldn't stop the executive branch" -- even though that is whole damn POINT of the checks & balances system the US government was built upon -- you know the doors are being opened to see just how far they can push.

Just how much push-back will they get from their own cult members.

Keep in mind, too, that TO THIS DAY, the cult still refuses to admit Trump lost the 2020 election.

There are always going to be those (whether they are full on cult member believers or just those who want to hold to the "good of humanity" or whatever else) that are going to think it'll all be okay.

That the next 4 years will be "a little crazy" maybe, that "the US survived Trump's first term, it can survive the next one", that 2028 will come around and we'll get back on track.... etc. etc.

Whatever excuse or reason they're throwing out there, I don't care.

Because again, let me just say that we aren't even THREE FULL MONTHS into this second term, and things are already hell.

The government has alienated all of the USA's longest-held allies (which, let's be honest, isn't to be taken LIGHTLY). Has outright SIDED with RUSSIA over Ukraine in something that any idiot in the world knows the answer to. Among so many other problems.

And the fact is--it isn't JUST Trump. It isn't just the "head of the snake" b/c it's a multi-headed snake.

So no. This second term isn't going to be like the last one. Not even REMOTELY. That's already evident. And if you're trying to convince yourself that it is, that is a YOU problem, and you need to get your head out of the sand and stop ignoring the obvious.

And trust me, all of us that are SCREAMING about this? We really, really WANT to be wrong. I know I do. I want it all to be an overreaction, I want the world "back to good people".

The problem is-- I don't think it IS an overreaction.

Because like I said -- they still argue about the 2020 election. And if the whole event at the Capitol on Jan. 6th, 2021, had actually been "successful" (as far as the cult is concerned) -- Let's pretend for a second that they'd "won".

Let's pretend that Pence had been killed. Or Pelosi. Or more of the Congress people, or more of the law enforcement. Or that it had been so bad that Trump's terrorists really had "overthrown the certifying of the election".

Let's just pretend THAT scenario.

Where would we have been from THAT point? Would there have BEEN a 2024 election?

That is the kind of state this country is in right now. That is the kind of people that have been in power at the top (and yes, there are ISSUES all throughout the political system, but trying to argue that the Dems are as bad as the GOP so I'm just not gonna vote at all is WHAT GOT US HERE!)

We cannot overhaul the entire election system overnight. It just isn't feasible.

But yeah.

The American people-- either because they're in a cult, or deep seated misogyny, or twisted religious faith, or prejudices, or twisted propaganda, or for WHATEVER reason--decided to put this madman in power.

Because TOO MANY (either through directly voting for him or deciding NOT TO VOTE AT ALL--or through those 'protest votes' that go nowhere), did not put their vote to Harris, which allowed this state to happen.

Because like I said, it was going to be Harris/Walz OR Trump/Vance in this last election.

No matter what your thoughts are on "we need more than two parties" or "lesser of two evils" or whatever other BS you wanna throw--

By not voting DIRECTLY for Harris/Walz as an American Voter, you allowed this, whether you meant to or not.

So, let me get this straight, Book World.

Sunrise on the Reaping releases March 18, 2025.

I placed the pre-order for it waaaay back around its announcement (so far back I had to check the actual date that I placed the order)-- on June 8, 2024 (with Barnes & Noble at this time).

I placed the pre-order for the Target Edition on March 16, 2025 (because I might have been in bed that morning and impulse-bought but shhh).

Also, since I know most of the time, B&N preorders tend to take a little longer to get here as most times, they don't ship out until release day or right before it.

(For reference, according to my account, the book shipped out on March 14, 2025.)

I figured surely I'd have at least one of them in my hands by Friday, right? Saturday at the latest? If it came out TUESDAY?

It is Saturday, March 22, 2025.

I still DO NOT HAVE EITHER COPY!

And of course everywhere is sold out by now, because hey, it's a popular book (which is WHY I'd preordered in the FIRST place, dammit)!

The B&N preorder is apparently stuck in Tennessee somewhere but I should have the Target one by Monday/Tuesday, so there's that, but I mean...

WHY preorder a book if it's gonna take FOREVER to get to you?

(I get why on other levels, like I definitely preordered Onyx Storm but I also went to the midnight release for it because I HAD to get it that night, etc. I figured waiting "a few days" for Sunrise wouldn't be a big deal.)

I'm still annoyed, though.

I had to vent.

(Because I'm having to dodge spoilers left and right like a pro, and it's like, while there are some things you KNOW from Haymitch's story via Katniss's story, there's still plenty you DON'T and I swear if I have any part of Sunrise ruined for me I'll scream!)

This was the other night. And it was time to actually go to bed. So I pull back the covers, get all ready and all. Then get up to turn off the light--

Apparently, little Sasha had other plans than "bedtime" :)

Seriously, that is the very center of the bed, and the little lion is being his (perfect, adorable) demon child self.

Making me love him even more.

When I came across these little book magnets in my local coffee shop / bookstore (and by another local business too), I just had to get them. I mean, Empyrean magnets?

Considering how much this series has occupied the space in my brain (and probably won't disappear until who knows when)... and they're so cool!

The fact that I realized after taking the picture that I'd put them over that particular magnet from Emily McEntire's Scarred is just... well, cool too.

Books that I know are scheduled for 2025 that have every single reason (and 99.99% chance) of destroying me completely:

  • Onyx Storm (Empyrean 3) -- Rebecca Yarros
  • Fearless (Powerless 3) -- Lauren Roberts
  • Sunrise on the Reaping (Hunger Games Prequel) -- Suzanne Collins
  • The Ballad of Falling Dragons (Moonfall 2) -- Sarah A. Parker

Books that are highly likely to come out in 2025 that have every single reason (and 99.99% chance) of destroying me completely:

  • Sequel to Quicksilver (Fae & Alchemy 2) -- Callie Hart
  • Another SJM (ACOTAR?!) book? Anything?!

Oh I need to update this with the following:

  • The Primal of Blood & Bone (FBAA 6) -- Jennifer L. Armentrout
  • The Wrath of the Fallen (Gods & Monsters 4) -- Amber V. Nicole
  • The Fallen & the Kiss of Dusk (Crowns of Nyaxia) -- Carissa Broadbent

And the fact that The Ballad of Falling Dragons got moved to 2026 (*sad*) BUT the confirmation of the sequel to Quicksilver by Callie Hart (which we got a title for of Brimstone) IS going to be released this year on November 18, 2025 ...

And the fact that, to no one's surprise,

ONYX STORM DESTROYED ME.

Even more so than I thought it would-- and let's be honest, THAT is saying a lot!

Black faith leaders have called for a 40-day "fast" from Target for Lent in response to their compliance with Trump's resegregation agenda.

Now this is an effective boycott. It is targeting (ha) a specific company with a clearly stated goal. The amount of time is long enough to be noticed, and could be extended if needed. Anything that can be purchased at Target can also be obtained elsewhere, so it is actually possible to boycott this specific company for a very long time. Target is caving to fascism and rolling back their diversity and inclusion policies. The goal is for them to reverse that decision. This is an achievable goal.

Boycotting everything all at once, for one day or for as long as you can, because everything is terrible and we’re mad about it…does nothing. It’s vague, disorganized, and frankly impossible. We have to buy things sometimes. You can’t just target the economy as a whole. You have to be specific.

If you want to start a boycott, use this one as an example. Choose one target. Provide one (simple, clear, easy to explain) reason why that company deserves to be boycotted. Explain what you want them to do differently. Make sure that it is something that can actually be done. Then tell people about it.

I love the added explanation from @witchaj above. Breaking it down in such a way, making it all "make sense" to those who might be overwhelmed or just "what do I do, what CAN I do" etc. etc. about the whole thing.

Because a lot of the times, for a LOT of people, depending on circumstances and other variables, they only CHOICE is to buy at say, Walmart or whatever--whether they WANT to or not. (Be it prices, or availability, or whatever.) But yes, every single thing at Target can be found in another store--even if it is another place that isn't "perfect", it can be a step-by-step process.

Hit Target. Make TARGET change. Then move to other sources. Because the dollar CAN be spent in other locations, etc.

Share this as much as possible! Because a boycott like THIS one has a chance of actually pulling something off. Because as much as we might WANT to say "we're not spending our money" --

It's just impossible. And for a lot of people, they don't have such a luxury to boycott some things because their only CHOICES are the "evil corporations" etc.

Step. By. Step.

Help a girl decide!

Needless to say, I adored all the previous Nyaxia books, as well as the first Hurricane Wars. I also have been wanting to pick up both of these for quite some time, and I am also in the "mood" for both--

I just cannot decide which one I should choose RIGHT NOW as my next "physical book" read.

They're definitely both getting read, no question. And I just spent the last ten minutes staring at them, reading the jackets, trying to see if I could pick one-- I can't. Not even my precious kitties were able to help offer their sage wisdom and help me choose.

So I have come to my fellow book lovers and readers --

And if you have read either or both of these, PLEASE-- do not share any spoilers in the comments or messages or anything. I don't want to know anything about them plot-wise or what have you, spoilers are BAD!

I just need desperate help making a decision!

So THIS wasn't any help! haha.

But apparently all of you were split too, since the poll ended in a FREAKING TIE!

I am gonna go with A Monsoon Rising, though, after having chatted with a friend whose read both, and weighed the potential of "cliffhanger hell" and other variables.

Warning! Incoming Political Post!

So I've been on a major political wave (I mean, I always am, but this whole thing between President Zelenskyy & He Whose Master Is Put*n has just turned it up to a thousand), and I just had to get a lot off of my chest.

I get a lot of constant variations (especially from family in this super small red state in southern USA that I can't stand) of how I got to this point in my beliefs, considering how different they are from the rest-- as in, not Republican. Not even REMOTELY.

Cause we're as liberal as we can be over here, let's be honest.

I normally don't go into it in great detail; it's not worth the effort of exhaustive conversation because it's not like they really WANT an answer; they just want to feel superior and all that crap.

But anyway, I wrote up this nice little thing earlier tonight, and thought I'd share it here. Just because:

And if you choose to ask "what 'radicalized' me"-- I mean, if you want to use such a word-- I'll list off the following:

So there's this local coffee shop / bookstore that opened up back in November and it's the perfect place in the sense that they host a lot of different events that just sort of brings readers together to enjoy things we all love -- books and coffee!

Anyway, last night they had their "Onyx Storm" party (because they weren't able to have an actual release for it since they opened so late in regards to its release in January and preparation and all that) and can I just say-- it was so much fun!

Like, I don't go out and socialize; I prefer spending time at home, reading, with my kitty cats. Just more introverted overall.

However-- I wanted to see what this all entailed, and because it was Empyrean and Onyx Storm and that series owns my entire heart and soul right now, how could I not give the socialization thing a try? ;)

There was making paper dragons. There was book discussions. There was special "that-night-only-exclusive ONYX STORM" coffee drink (that was SUPER good even if I don't remember what all was in it except the "vanilla cold foam" part ha!) There was raffle drawings. There was making bookmarks and probably the best part of all --

Empyrean Series TRIVIA!

Four Rounds-- General, Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm. 10 questions each round.

And the glass cup on the left in the pic above was a win from a raffle drawing (and hey, I never win a raffle drawing. Like--NEVER. I was so happy!) The other tumbler on the right I bought because it was just absolutely GORGEOUS and I couldn't pass it up. It's just perfect.

And of course, when I got home, little Xaden himself inspected the products--both of which he deemed as passing that inspection, of course ;)
