I can never leave Tumblr because after years of sporadic therapy utterly failed to even approach the core of my problem some random tumblr user was like “I processed my trauma by writing a 10,000 word work of filthy fanfic erotica” and I was like “fuck it I’ve tried everything else” and now I’m 17 chapters and 20,000 words deep into an unpublishable work of obscenity and after careful literary analysis with one of the Beloved Mutuals I have come to some Terrible Revelations about my childhood and may now continue the process of Healing. Where else am I supposed to get this kind of experience. Who does this. Why are we like this. I’m never leaving. I love y’all.

Hey, you reblogged that AI post and I was surprised to see something so mean on your blog. "If you cant write unassisted, fuck you, youre a disgrace to the community." Is that really something you want on your blog?

Just in case this isn't a spam message:

Posting AI-generated content to a platform intended to be an archive for writers is not appropriate use of the platform. On a platform intended for human creation, it is rude and inappropriate to clog search results with AI-produced content which often plagiarizes the work of human authors.

Use of generative AI is also horrible for our environment, leading to massive waste of fossil fuel energy and water. We should not be doing damage to our planet for the sake of generating (robot-produced, often plagiarized) fiction, especially when the joy of fiction comes from the creation and emotion of real people.

Rather than giving a prompt to a generative AI, people should consider attempting to write their own work, or asking another writer from the fandom if they would be interested in writing it. Anyone who is capable of typing a prompt into ChatGPT is capable of writing a story. The first attempts may not be amazing, but that is true of any skill, and anyone can improve with time and practice - and while ChatGPT may give you big returns in your time, it doesn't give you practice, growth, or creativity, which is where the joy of writing should come from.

To add to this, generative AI isn't an assistant for disability. Something that assists you helps you complete a task. You do the task yourself, the thing assisting you just helps you manage parts that aren't possible for you. Assisted writing could be using dictation, using a screen reader, relying on a spellchecker, typing instead of writing by hand, etc.

You aren't doing the writing yourself if you use generative AI. You're offering up a single sentence and asking a machine to steal the hard work of others so you don't have to actually write anything. The hard work you steal may well belong to people who actually need assistance with writing, and absolutely will not appreciate seeing the struggles they overcame being turned into slop for others to claim as their own.

Enjoy the creative process. Be part of the creative process. Don't become reliant on AI to the point where you can't think, create or act for yourself. This is why AI isn't an assistant. It takes independence and from you, instead of helping you realise it. It convinces you that you can't do things, instead of helping you try. It tells you to just leave it all to the machines and don't bother yourself with the fun (and struggles) of creating.

If you use generative AI, fuck you.

Generative AI generates content. That means the person using it isn't doing the work themselves. And that means it isn't a tool, it's a bypass. And it's a bypass used by lazy, entitled people who are more interested in "content" than in telling a good story. People who want headpats for being "creative" when they're so unoriginal they can't even do the work themselves.

Spellcheck, voice-to-print, screen readers, etc. aren't "AI," they're tools. They are what writers use to help capture their stories that they wrote. The writer does all the real work of creating and then uses tools to assist them in getting it down properly. Folks who try to lump it all together with shit like chatgpt are deliberately arguing in bad faith so that they can their machine-generated bullshit behind real tools that actually help.

"Growing up, my father prepared absolutely all food. Mom wasn't even allowed in the kitchen. He said my mother's cooking could kill a dragon — which was interesting, because he was one."

So! This is a perfect case study in situations where you should be wary of misinformation.

Take a moment and ask yourself, a project like this requires a lot of time, money and dedication of resources, why would scientists dedicate that time to something that could just be done by a tree?

The answer is they wouldn't. So that means this claim requires further investigation!

This project is called LIQUID 3, and it's not meant for cities with wide open spaces, it's meant for cities like Belgrade in Serbia. These cities are densely populated and heavily polluted, to the point where pollution actually chokes out current trees and makes creating green spaces difficult.

Liquid 3 was a PhD scientists answer to these problems. The microalgae tank is intended for spaces where you either:

  1. Don't have enough space to plant full trees, or
  2. Don't have enough time to plant trees and wait for them to grow up.

The tank is extremely efficient when you consider the amount of space needed compared to the amount of CO2 turned into oxygen. The tank can operate throughout the winter. And most importantly, it can be quickly set up in areas that desperately need relief from air pollution NOW not in 10 years when trees are done growing. Children currently suffocating on polluted air can't wait for trees to grow, they need to be taken care of now, and Liquid 3 is one of the ways to take care of them. Depending on the species of microalgea used, a number have shown a pretty amazing capacity to pull heavy metals out of the air which is something trees can get choked up by.

The tanks aren't just tanks either! Liquid 3 have solar panels placed on top, they have lighting and mobile phone charging, and they work as public benches. The designers of it want to encourage green spaces where there's room, but where there isn't room or time, Liquid 3 can step in. Realistically, this isn't a replacement for trees. It's replacing boring metal city benches with new, cooler benches that also clean the air (and have at least some heating during the winter).

Not only that, but the microalgea that grows is native to Serbia and all that microalgea has a ton of great uses! It makes for great fertilizer, compost, wastewater treatment, cleaner biofuels and even for helping create new tanks for further air purification. They only require a quick algae divide once a month, and the produced algae can be carted off to where ever it's needed. This makes them effective solutions for areas that can't sustain complex installations.

So yeah, there's actually quite a lot of places that would like these. Lots of people currently breathing in terrible quality air would much rather have their boring city benches replaced with really fucking cool algae tanks that clean the air and can be used to help create + sustain future green spaces in cities. I dunno about you, but I'd take that over a dumb metal bench any day. Put these at every bus stop and I'd be delighted.

can ppl pls reblog this version

Then this is a marketing failure. That tweet up there should read "Scientists create Liquid Trees: a tankful of water and micro-algae that can produce oxygen where trees can't thrive."

Yes, critical thinking regarding media literacy is an important skill, but (like a tree!) that needs to grow and be developed before it can be expected to function.

Right now, we can and should be calling out the media for how it often at best fails to convey the actual benefits of the new thing it's talking about, and at worst deliberately portrays the new thing as useless or scary to use it as clickbait.

Part of media literacy is learning that there's text after the headline.

Also, it's not a marketing failure because "Yup That Exists" isn't supposed to be marketing, it's a random Twitter account posting weird stuff someone found.

Part of media literacy and reading comprehension in general is understanding the purpose, author, and intended audience of what you're reading! I see this specific mistake so often, where people base their criticisms on the baseless assumption that whatever they read about something was written or posted by someone who had some actual connection to it. Some people don't have a duty to make a case for something because that isn't their job in the first place! They probably have a similar amount of information to you!

Hi! I’ve been trying to find this fic for so long but I don’t remember anything about it except for one scene. Andy and Miranda are making out in the townhouse, when Miranda’s mom walks in on them. She teases them and compliments Miranda on her taste. I believe she’s heard about Andy from the twins and got curious. Thank you so much!

I'm pretty sure it's this one... https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4688960/1/Mirandas_Mother

HEY! Do you still have Mirandy Fanfiction? Like Fur, No thanks and something with Christmas?

Hey there Kidlet

Yup, I have a zipped file of 200+ deleted Mirandy fics. Just DM me our email address and I can send em your way.

I mean, they look right at each other. Nobody else. Then they have a sly giggle together. … How else am I supposed to interpret this?? I can’t be the only one?!

Of course Kate and Jeri know… there’s been far too much of it of the years! Also who knows how many questions they’ve been asked by fans about J7 fanfic at every Con their at. 😘 But their very cute!

I love this, and I always scream when I see it on my dash. And I agree with the above but adding my own lil thought, look at their individual reactions (as well as their interaction ) and it’s just so fucking obvious they KNOW. They fucking KNOW about the J7.

So awesome!!

Anonymous asked:

Hi! Do you happen to know if there's a way to read the Mirandy fic where Andy is a sex therapist? I think it got taken down on ao3.

Hey Nonnie

Um, as far as I know the Science of Sex is still up, but it has been locked so if you don't have an account you can't read it. I think that's what has happened. If you have an AO3 account this link should take you to the fic. If you don't have an AO3 account just pm me your email addy and I'll send you the fic pdf.

Things cats were right about all along:

  1. Fuck staying hydrated by drinking enough water - eat! more! wet! food! (watermelon, cucumbers, SOUP!)
  2. Feels great to be really high up in your house where you can see the whole place (loft bed loft bed loft bed loft bed!)
  3. Express yourself as clearly as possible when people are touching you and you don't want them to.
  4. Optional, but you can also express yourself clearly when your people are not touching you and you want them to.
  5. Sometimes it's important to just go "hmm. actually, I don't care" and wander off.
  6. You don't have to be the strongest or toughest to defend yourself, it's enough to just be difficult enough to not be worth the trouble.
  7. Ghosts will eventually leave if you stare at them for long enough.

Well, only one of these was on my 1980s "Everything About Life I Learned from my Cat" poster. Lol

i know we're all sick of self-care being a marketing tactic now, but i don't think a lot of us have any other concept of self-care beyond what companies have tried to sell us, so i thought i'd share my favorite self-care hand out

brought to you by how mad i just got at a Target ad

OP this is EXCELLENT

Now THAT’S a self care resource! If you’ve gotten distracted by capitalism’s appropriation of “self-care” and watering the meaning down to nothing this is a super helpful guide to cut through the bullshit.

imo the best way to interpret those “real people don’t do x” writing advice posts is “most people don’t do x, so if a character does x, it should be a distinguishing trait.” human behavior is infinitely varied; for any x, there are real people who do x. we can’t make absolute statements. we can, however, make probabilistic ones.

for example, most people don’t address each other by name in the middle of a casual conversation. if all your characters do that, your dialogue will sound stilted and unnatural. but if just one character does that, then it tells us something about that character.
