I can't tell you how bewildered people in the publishing industry get when I tell them I'm with a Canadian publisher yet still managed to be a bestseller. It's like they can't fathom how a non-US title could achieve that.

What?! It's SIX MONTHS OF WINTER. Week after week of below freezing. You walk in that. You wait in that. You are constantly exposed to that. You go numb in every way. I'm the freak who buys that stuff. But I put like a tablespoon, a literal splash, into a glass with a full can of seltzer. A bottle lasts me weeks. That stuff is a mixer. Not a drink.
