This Thursday, the U.S. Senate is expected to vote on a budget resolution that paves the way for cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other vital services just to finance more tax giveaways for billionaires and giant corporations.
We’re talking about $880 billion ripped from Medicaid—a program that supports 1 in 5 Americans, including children, seniors, and people with disabilities.[1] If this budget passes, millions would lose access to life-saving care.
And SNAP? On the chopping block for $230 billion in cuts. That’s over 40 million Americans facing deeper hunger, kids going to bed without dinner, seniors skipping meals to afford rent, and families forced to choose between food and medicine.
Why? So billionaires and major corporations can keep their 2017 Trump-GOP tax breaks that overwhelmingly benefit the wealthiest households and could cost U.S. taxpayers $5 trillion over the next decade.
Tell your senators: Reject this cruel budget resolution. Don’t cut healthcare and food aid to keep billionaires flush with cash.
Over 1 million jobs could be lost if these cuts go through, and state economies could shrink by $113 billion.[2] Hospitals could shutter. Kids could go hungry. All so the richest people on Earth can pay even less in taxes.
Let’s say it clearly: this isn’t about balancing the budget. If it were, they’d close tax loopholes, end corporate giveaways, and fund the IRS to go after wealthy tax cheats. Instead, they’re gutting services working people rely on so the rich can get richer and the powerful can stay powerful. That’s what a government of, by, and for the billionaires looks like.
We don’t have to stand for this. The American people overwhelmingly support preserving and expanding Medicaid and SNAP, not gutting them—and forcing the rich and big corporations to finally pay their fair share of taxes.

One Week to Save Michael Tanzi
We know that the death penalty debases all of us. In the last week, however, the State of Florida sunk to new levels. It is starting to feel like cruelty is their point.
Florida Supreme Court Denies Michael Tanzi's Claims
Michael Tanzi is scheduled to be executed on April 8 at 6 pm — and the State of Florida is denying him the basic human right to see his legal and spiritual advisors in his final days.
Tanzi suffers from debilitating sciatica and spinal damage, leaving him barely able to walk. Yet Florida State Prison has repeatedly refused to provide him a wheelchair, despite his documented medical condition and multiple requests.
Let that sink in: The State is barreling toward execution while effectively blocking him from accessing the very people who could help him in his final moments — legally and spiritually. The Court in denying relief on that claim concluded: “Nor can we say that Tanzi has a clear legal right to whatever medical treatment or accommodation he requests of corrections personnel.”
Now, Governor DeSantis is the single executive official who can stop this execution. Let the governor know what you think by sending him a message now and calling his office at 1-850-717-9337.

Trump is about to impose a 25% tariff (tax) on a range of Canadian goods, a move that could end our long friendship and alliance, and likely plunge both our countries into a recession.
It is an asinine move, economists across the spectrum agree it will be a disaster, and Trump seems to have no idea whatsoever why the heck he is even doing it.
But Senate Democrats are fighting back by forcing a vote to reverse Trump's tariffs And some Republicans – particularly in border states – may support it. And if this passes, we may be able to roll back bad tariffs with others.
Imposing these tariffs will have widespread consequences, just to appease Trump's ego. We need the Senate to stop Trump in his tracks by voting to REVERSE these tariffs. And that will only happen if Republicans put the country over Trump, and finally show some guts.

President Trump and his cronies are allegedly planning to dissolve the leadership of the United States Postal Board and absorb the Postal Service into the Trump administration, giving him full control over the mail and the opportunity to privatize it — with disastrous consequences for all of us.
It would also give him full control over vote-by-mail, mail-in ballot distribution and collection, and plenty of opportunities to interfere in elections on behalf of Republicans. This week the Senate will vote to block $8.8 billion in weapons to Israel, including more than 35,000 one-ton bombs.
Israel has resumed its genocidal violence against Palestinians in Gaza, killing more than 900 people since March 18 and more than 50,000 people since October 2023. Israel also has blocked all humanitarian aid from entering Gaza for a month.
It’s more important than ever that we block these weapons to end our complicity in Israel’s genocide of Palestinians.

Top Trump adviser, Stephen Miller, is leading the charge to spread propaganda about so-called “activist judges” — claiming that any judge to rule against Trump is “communist” and “extreme.”1 This is a clear, dangerous Trump administration power grab and we must stop it.

You already know that drug prices in the United States are unaffordable. With one in three Americans struggling to afford medications, we desperately need meaningful solutions.
Cracking down on patent abuses is an effective solution to lower the price of drugs. A patent is a government-granted monopoly and can help promote innovation, but Big Pharma games the patent system to keep competitors out of the market, needlessly keeping prices high.
Congress is now considering bipartisan bills to stop these practices and save money for patients. These bills (S. 1041, S. 1096, S. 1040 , S. 1095, and S. 1097) would reform the patent system and enable more generic competition.
The Senate Judiciary Committee is meeting this Thursday, April 3rd, to discuss these bipartisan bills and decide whether to move them forward for a vote. One of your senators sits on this Committee and could play a crucial role in advancing these bills -- will you send a letter to encourage them to vote in favor?
These competition bills would:
- Stop brand-name drug companies from paying generic companies to delay cheaper alternatives
- Limit the number of patents that drug companies can put on biologics, clearing the way for competition
- Prevent drug companies from making minor tweaks to extend monopolies and block cheaper options
- Reform processes within the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to make it harder for Big Pharma to game the system and block generic competition
- Increase coordination between government agencies to boost more generic competition
Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland father with protected legal status, was swept up by ICE even though a judge granted him withholding of removal, a legal status protecting him from deportation after finding he'd likely be persecuted if ever returned to El Salvador — and then the Trump team shipped him off to the El Salvador's terrifying "Terrorism Confinement Center" supermax prison by ACCIDENT.
"Although ICE was aware of his protection from removal to El Salvador, Abrego Garcia was removed to El Salvador because of an administrative error," said the administration in a statement. Now the Trump team is telling the courts that there's nothing they can do because Garcia is out of US custody, even though one phone call could resolve the whole situation.
Tell Trump to bring home Garcia ASAP!
Garcia fled El Salvador at the age of 16 after being threatened by gangs. He is married to a US citizen, has a 5-year-old disabled child who is also a US citizen, and has no criminal record. There is zero reason for him to have been swept up by ICE in the first place, let alone shipped off to a Salvadoran gulag.
"They claim that the court is powerless to order any relief. If that's true, the immigration laws are meaningless—all of them—because the government can deport whoever they want, wherever they want, whenever they want, and no court can do anything about it once it's done," said Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg. Trump MUST bring back this innocent man to his family, and if he won't, Congress needs to force him to do so.

When Consumer Reports shared with the FDA our new infant formula test results – which found that some of the products contained potentially harmful levels of arsenic and lead – Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who oversees the agency, announced a new initiative to enhance the safety and quality of our infant formula supply.
But just days ago, the FDA was forced to cut 3,500 jobs, in addition to previous cuts to staff with expertise in infant formula. “It’s very encouraging to see the FDA issue this (infant formula safety initiative) announcement after CR shared our findings about contaminants in infant formula,” says Brian Ronholm, CR’s director of food policy. “But there is a risk of this becoming an empty promise, especially if the current trend of additional budget and staffing cuts continues.”
