Hear me out fic idea: Eddie ends up hired at a country bar instead of as an uber driver then Buck goes to visit for a couple days and is completely amazed at the whole cowboy hat, plaid shirts a couple buttons too open and like dancing. He tries the mechanical bull (how the hell is that called in english?) and Eddie starts messing up his bartender job because how the hell is buck so good at that. Like imagine him full on cowboy hat, bull riding like he was made for it, all sweaty because he needs to be te best at it and won't let anyone beat his time!
Not gonna lie before they introduced Shannon I really thought Eddie was gay like the whole scene where buddie bump shoulders and Eddie says something like "they're not my type" to girls flirting with him, my first thought was oh so he's gay! And then I realized he's not and got really confused. I had no context and wasn't in the fandom then.
thinking about how eddie's parents just. will not know how to handle this eddie. this confident and self-assured dad who knows he was born to be a dad and will die trying. this eddie that has buck at his back encouraging him deeper into that confidence with every passing day. and eddie's parents just do not know this version of his son. because the last time they'd tried to take chris eddie was working three jobs and suffering from ptsd and shannon had just left. and now eddie is working multiple odd jobs again but on his own terms, he's been through multiple rounds of therapy and he has a partner who has his back even from 800 miles away. and they just don't know how to handle this eddie at all.
Helena saying "now you're a driver" like she isn't the main reason he is. Eddie has a fucking great job as a firefighter, has a silver star, is an amazing dad and has a whole good life in LA and THIS WOMAN made it her whole purpose to take everything and now she's throwing things like that??? Absolutely not.
now that we know Eddie did ballroom dancing and he liked it (before his parents took the fun part of it) the risky business dance scene feels even more meaningful because not only was he doing something fun just for the sake of it, he was claiming back something he likes, something he's good at, and making it fun again!! And now I can only think of a younger Eddie practicing the risky business choreo to the point he still knows it
