I really like frogs and the color yellow, music from the 60s-80s, and an ever-lengthening list of grumpy old men (fictional and otherwise). Currently BIG into amc's The Terror, Emergency!, and anything involving a cold boy. Lots of other nonsense too! Askbox is always open :)

One of the things I find fascinating in reading Animorphs is how Tobias' nothlit status (which is in place from Book 1) subtly keeps the other Animorphs from backing off or following through on any of their doubts about the war. There are several scenes, across multiple books (including from Blood Knight Rachel!) where one of the animorphs starts to wonder whether it's all worth it, or considers prioritizing their safety and home lives, then sees Tobias and thinks "Well, he already gave up everything, I can't do less".

And the thing is I don't think Tobias would see it that way! He chose to be a nothlit and he chose to stay in the fight when he could return to human form *because* he doesn't see himself as having other things to value. He knows the others have homes and families and comforts he doesn't. I think from Tobias' perspective it's "Well, I don't have anything to lose, so I might as well commit" and he wouldn't expect that of the others. But the others see it as "If Tobias can give up his whole life as a human, I can't chicken out". He ends up being this symbol of sacrifice for them when he (from his own perspective) didn't have much life to sacrifice.

thinking about when i mentioned tom and jerry by title alone to my 65 year old father and his only response was to laugh REALLY hard and say "him and that fucking mouse.." while staring into the distance. and then the conversation was over

saw someone describe Luke Skywalker as the 'bastard son of a sith lord' and i have to say i think Darth Vader would be VERY offended by that. like how DARE you imply Padme wasn't his wife??

I don't think it's fair to call him a deadbeat either. like the man started trying to have a relationship with his son as soon as he found out he existed. he was trying so so hard to have a father son relationship. yes he tortured his son's friends and yes he did also maim him but that's not important right now.
