i usually don’t add to posts i reblog but as a type 1 diabetic this makes me so fucking angry.
i have an insulin pump. each time i change the port (basically what connects it to my body, similar to an iv) i use about a third of a bottle refilling the cartridge. i change it every three days, so one single, 10ml bottle of insulin lasts me around nine days.
i had to look this up because my parents don’t like to tell me how much my supplies cost. (for reasons like this. i feel guilty for my t1d. i shouldn’t have to feel guilty about an autoimmune disorder i was born with.)
you know how much it is for that one, single 10ml bottle of insulin, for those without any insurance?
$328.
for nine days.
$328 for a nine days supply of the medicine that i literally need to survive. the medicine that once i become an adult and have to take care of myself, i will have to pay for. the medicine that unless, by some miracle, they find a cure, i will need to take for the rest of my life. $328 for nine days of my life.

Fam, I am also type 1 diabetic. I also use a pump. I am preparing to go do fieldwork in Europe for nine months and insulin is perishable. I use a brand that’s available in Europe. The same vial that costs $300+ in the US without insurance costs €22 ($25.60) in one country and $10-15 in the other. Not with insurance! Cash. Roll up to the pharmacy and explain that you have diabetes cash price.
It doesn’t have to be like this. The US needs to start negotiating better pharmaceutical prices like every other country. Get some socialism up in this bitch.

As a type one diabetic, I always see or hear my parents talking about how much insulin costs, and tbh I’m sick and fucking tired of my parents having to worry about how to pay for something THAT SHOULD N O T BE SOMETHING WE NEED TO PAY TO HAVE. Because I’m worried that one day, it’ll go so far as them having to sell things in order to pay for it. This is not how it should be. Not at all

Two quick additions, as someone who suffered from chronic migraines
1. Behind the eyes: eye strain or just long stress. More sleep will definitely make this feel better. 2. Temples: unclench your jaw, as that bone is putting too much pressure on your temples.
This is a fucking life saviour with the amount of headaches I have

There’s a heatwave in the UK again and just a healthy reminder that comments like “lol thats not hot” or laughing at people suffering in the heat is not cool or funny. Just because it’s not hot for you doesn’t mean it’s hot for us. The mortality rate rises dramatically whenever we have a heatwave. We’re an island that’s on average between 3C (37.4F) in the Winter and 24C (75.2F) in the Summer. We don’t build our roads or buildings to deal with this kind of heat so when it gets unusually hot there is no where for us to go. There are very few buildings with air con other than huge office blocks and some largescale restaurants.
We’re expecting temperatures of 30C+ (86F+) within the span of a week, so anyone in the UK make sure to drink plenty of water and take regular breaks if you need to. A cold shower in the morning and at night will also help you hydrate!

Idk when it happened but at some point these stupid food videos stopped being “Hey look at this cool food item from x restaurant/country, here’s some quick background and you should totally try it!!” and started being “Here’s this food item non-white people have been eating for centuries but we’re gonna pretend like WE discovered it AND that it’s some hot new ~food craze~ so you HAVE to try it”. Jerry Trainor is famous for portraying characters that are very very weird and in some cases will see themselves as the center of everything. What he is doing here is making fun of the white people complaining about there not being enough white people in black panther and mocking how Hollywood whitewashes a lot of fictional characters by claiming he, a late 2000s preteen show actor, should have played that level of an iconic role in a major film. He’s not serious about all of this he is using his own reputation as a weird character actor to ridicule racists.
