The Summary Plan Description (SPD) is a document that provides a detailed description of the Health Plan's benefits; it is generally required by law to be published every five years. A new SPD is being written, and for the first time, we are going to have an interactive, electronic version that will have better information accessibility than is available on paper.
The electronic version will allow you to click on links to navigate within the document, making it much easier to find supporting information in different areas of the SPD. In addition, the electronic version of the SPD will also provide pop-up examples to explain resources in more detail, and give examples to make resources (and how to use them) clearer. The electronic SPD will also provide resources to outside links that users would otherwise have to access on their own (e.g., The Industry Health Network, ACA information sites, etcetera).
