DEPTH PSYCHOTHERAPY

are seeking a deeper understanding of yourself and your inner world? are you motivated to engage in the therapeutic process in order to achieve greater emotional freedom and personal growth?

Depth psychotherapy is a type of therapy that explores the underlying patterns, emotions, and relational dynamics that shape our thoughts and behaviors. Many people come to therapy to address specific symptoms, and I believe those symptoms can often guide the direction of the treatment.

Depth psychotherapy is a type of therapy that dives into the unconscious mind to uncover and address underlying psychological issues. Based on the theories of psychodynamic and relational approaches, it is usually a longer-term process, often taking several months or years.

Exploring the unconscious

In depth psychotherapy, the therapist and client work together to explore unconscious thoughts, feelings, and memories to better understand current psychological challenges, including issues related to sexuality. Using techniques like dream analysis, free association, and active imagination, Dr. Renye helps the client access deeper layers of their mind. This approach is particularly helpful for those facing difficulties such as depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, or sexual concerns, as it uncovers underlying causes and patterns. Through this process, clients gain greater self-awareness, heal emotional wounds, and experience personal growth, making it a transformative journey for those open to exploring both their psychological and sexual well-being.

frequency and duration

Working with patients at least once a week, and sometimes more frequently, this form of psychotherapy can be very powerful. The frequency of sessions depends on the level of self-knowledge desired, clinical needs, as well as factors like schedule, availability, and resources. Healing is not linear. It is a journey full of twists and turns, like a labyrinth. Dr. Renye works with individuals, couples and groups and also see unique conglomerations of people: roommates, adult children and their parent(s), neighbors, members of blended families, open relationship design participants, sex worker and their partners or clients, etc.

Body awareness and embodiment are a focus in treatment. Dr. Renye has researched and worked with people helping them to decrease anxiety and depression through embodiment (applied somatic) psychology. She furthered her training by becoming a 500 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) and Yoga Therapist (IAYT). The breadth and depth of training allows for a well rounded approach to healing and recovery.

Dr. Renye has a Doctorate in clinical psychology (PsyD) from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), with a focus on accessing the unconscious self through the body and psychospirituality. And has a Masters degree in clinical psychology from the CIIS and a Bachelor’s degree (BA) in psychology from LaSalle University with a focus on Complimentary and Holistic Medicine Applications of Health Psychology.

Dr. Renye is trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy through Access Institute, has studied through the Marion Woodman Foundation Body-Soul Intensives, engaged in yearlong case conferences through the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis, the Jung Institute of San Francisco, and Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California. She has studied with Grof Transpersonal Training to deepen her understanding of the importance of the breath and conscious breathworks and it’s clinical applications.

When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.
