Single-value constraint

[edit]

@UWashPrincipalCataloger Hello, I removed the single-value constraint you added because this property is likely to be used in items for groups of individuals, such as Alej ke sv. Anně (Q10768532) which is composed of several trees. Hope that's all right with you. Cheers, Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 17:59, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That's messy. Group of trees after all isn't an individual tree, is it? Using has part(s) of the class (P2670) instead of P31 to link remarkable tree (Q811534) would make more sense. Taxa of an alley could be rather linked using taxon found at location (P6803), or perhaps also using has part(s) of the class (P2670). 2001:7D0:81DA:F780:D95:8B9D:98C7:D69C 12:53, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Use as qualifier?

[edit]

I'd like to use this as a qualifier for images that represent a higher taxon rank than species, i.e. here: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q14531295&diff=1793668844&oldid=1793668725&diffmode=source

Any objections? Mvolz (talk) 12:55, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

use on items for fictional animals

[edit]

I started a discussion about the use of this property on items for fictional animals at Wikidata_talk:WikiProject_Fictional_universes#is_an_individual_of_taxon_(P10241)_and_our_current_approach_to_modelling_fictional_instances_of_species. Please join there if you are interested in this. - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 13:53, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

holotypes

[edit]

Does this property make sense on holotypes, like holotype of Ouratea sipaliwiniensis (Q55200035)? --Azertus (talk) 01:11, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I guess only when it's a physical holotype, which might make this a bad idea... --Azertus (talk) 01:14, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
