Wikidata is a free linked database that can be read and edited by both humans and machines. There are many websites that reuse the data added to Wikidata: Wikipedia: Wikidata is beginning to be used on Wikipedia to create the infoboxes you often see on the right hand side of pages, this will allow contributors to add the information to Wikidata to provide information to people in all language Wikipedias. Google search: Wikidata provides information to Google search to be displayed in the knowledge graph results on the right hand side of many Google search results. E.g World Heritage Site data added to Wikidata will be included in future Google searches. Histropedia: Histropedia uses the data from WIkidata and WIkipedia to draw timelines of events and groups of events. Here are a few examples of World Heritage Sites in different countries using data from Wikipedia and Wikidata, e.g World Heritage Sites in the United States. |
Add data using datasets through Mix n' Match |
---|
The tool Mix n Match lets users match lists with Wikidata entries, identifying which exist in Wikipedia and which still don't have articles. We are using it to match UNESCO programme inscriptions with corresponding Wikidata items. To start matching simply click on a link below, instructions for contributing to Mix n' Match (in Manual Mode) are available here

The items below link to automated lists showing Wikidata items that lack that particular property, simply click on the entries in the lists (at the bottom of the page) to go to that particular Wikidata item to add the information provided at the link at the top of each programme. The lists are automatically generated from Wikidata and there is around a 15 minute delay between adding the the information and the item being removed from the list. More items will appear as items are created from the datasets available.
