Statement deletion

[edit]

Hi Edward,

This edit of yours deleted a statement. Can you explain why you removed it?
--- Jura 08:48, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jura,

Kosovo inherits country from state with limited recognition and landlocked country. Edward (talk) 09:16, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on the context and available references. It's preferable to treat this as others.

Thanks, will do. Edward (talk) 09:33, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You created railway stop (Q30107229) and linked it to OSM. However, a halt is not an instance of a train station, it is a subclass of train station. As well, there already is railway stop (Q55678) which appears to be the same thing. I've unlinked railway stop (Q30107229) from OSM and fixed it up a bit, but you should really ask for railway stop (Q30107229) to be deleted. Peter F. Patel-Schneider (talk) 12:41, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, you're right. I merged the two items. Edward (talk) 13:36, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

RfcBot author name strings

[edit]

Hi, my bot RfcBot has added author name string (P2093) to items of Request for Comments (Q212971) even when these items use author (P50) and qualifier object named as (P1932). This is not intentional--I need to update the source code for RfCBot to remove author name string (P2093) if author (P50) and qualifier object named as (P1932) already exists on the item. Unblock request for server running the Wiki Art Depiction Explorer

Unblock request granted

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, and one or more administrators has reviewed and granted this request.

Request reason:
I maintain the Wiki Art Depiction Explorer. Editors using the tool aren't able to save their work to Wikidata because the IP address of the server is part of a IP range global block. Users associate their Wikimedia account with the tool using OAuth. There are no anonymous edits made with this tool. I'd like to request a local exception for the IP address of the server on Wikidata. The IP is 78.129.222.14
Unblock reason:

This template should be archived normally.

In the future when you add a bunch of statements via QS it would be helpful if you would add a reference. As is I have no way of knowing how you connected these items to linkedin (or whether to trust it). BrokenSegue (talk) 01:35, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, will do. Edward (talk) 07:20, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Linkedin data

[edit]

Hey appreciate the imported linkedIn data, did you write a bot, if so, would you like to share it? Germartin1 (talk) 12:32, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'll tidy up the code and share it. Edward (talk) 20:01, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed an error here—the school added is not mentioned anywhere on the LinkedIn page. Any idea what's happening with that? Sdkbtalk 22:16, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Good catch! You're right, I don't see it on LinkedIn page either. I'm investigating. Thanks for spotting this. Edward (talk) 22:45, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

linkedin end_time

[edit]

Hi Edward,

I noticed this edit (I'm having a coi here, so bring it up with you). Please note that this field of LinkedIn indicates "end date (or expected)" when you edit a degree as a profile maintainer. This seems to be a different definition than what you used on Wikidata. You may want to revert this batch of changes, as it indicated at least in this instance incorrectly that there was an end time. Effeietsanders (talk) 16:59, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the report, I'll fix this. Edward (talk) 22:18, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Edward (talk) 14:32, 3 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Keep hotel and skyscraper separated

[edit]

Please keep Four Seasons Hotel building, San Francisco (Q5475490) separated as one describes the hotel and the other the building. Germartin1 (talk) 02:24, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Germartin1: Okay, we can undo the merge. Does Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco (Q111393394) represent the hotel or the building? Edward (talk) 06:02, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
the one I created represents the hotel. Maybe we can fix the descriptions and use "occupant" property to make it clear. or change the label of Four Seasons Hotel building, San Francisco (Q5475490) to "X skyscraper" Germartin1 (talk) 06:43, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've undone the merge and changed Four Seasons Hotel building, San Francisco (Q5475490) to be a hotel building (Q63099748).
I linked the items with occupant (P466) and location (P276). Edward (talk) 06:53, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I like to point out that lately Findlink has a very large amount of "false negatives" where at first it shows a green label with "exact match in snippet", but when you click on it, you get redirected with the text "X not in Y". But if you then open the article in question, the text you wanted to link is there after all, and there does not seem to be any apparent problem with the article that would prevent a link from being made. It happens both with completely new links "chocolate bar > chocolate bar" and with expanded ones "chocolate bar > chocolate bar", and also with finding redirects and linking those. I was linking "Late Roman Empire", but the huge amount of false negatives made me give up halfway through, perhaps you can see what the problem is? Thanks advance. Thanks for your message. I'll have a look. Edward (talk) 09:02, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
