Hi Elya, welcome to Wikidata. Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings is the project I was telling you about. At Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Location/Germany is started a list for Germany. I hope that you, Raymond and the other LokalK friends can help out and join in here. Multichill (talk) 11:12, 9 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Multichill: Sure, I will have an eye on it and will help to improve whenever possible. Raymond (talk) 14:28, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. The use of doctoral student (P185) on several items about drawings doesn't make sense, e.g. on Q43401760 or Q43401914. What relation did you want to express? --Pasleim (talk) 23:29, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Pasleim: Ah, there are more of them? Sorry, I seem to have mixed up doctoral student (P185) and made from material (P186). I will query them and fix it with quick statements or manually. Thanks for the information! --Elya (talk) 08:28, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Pasleim: I think I fixed them all – or can you find any more? And (just curious): how did you find them at all? Randomly or have you control tools to find these strange things? --Elya (talk) 09:34, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I think you fixed them all. I found them on Wikidata:Database reports/Constraint violations/P185. --Pasleim (talk) 12:00, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't remove provenance

[edit]

Hi Elya, on Wikidata we keep the full provenance history for paintings (and basically for every statement) so please don't remove it. In this case it has a SK-C inventory number so it was a (long term?) loan and the Rijksmuseum has the not so nice habit to just remove these after a while. Multichill (talk) 09:14, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Scheringa was closed down some years ago (owner went bankrupt). Most of it went to Museum More and look what I found: https://www.museummore.nl/nu-te-zien/jan-mankes/ Multichill (talk) 09:24, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Multichill, ahhh … looked like a mistake, thanks. I'll add the missing provenance, would be nice to find start and end date, however there are even Christie's auctions for this painting …
btw. I wanted to contact you anyway - we might need to check Stedelijk Museum's URLs, I have the impression they changed their permalinks at some point after 2016 without leaving a redirect …
The pattern seems regular on the first sight:
http://www.stedelijk.nl/en/artwork/4342-zelfportret-1909
becomes
https://www.stedelijk.nl/en/collection/4342-jan-mankes-zelfportret-1909
and
http://www.stedelijk.nl/en/artwork/7234-jongensportret
becomes
https://www.stedelijk.nl/en/collection/7234-jan-mankes-jongensportret
but I haven't dug deeper yet (a quick SPARQL Query seems to confirm the problem) Is there any way to check/fix that a bit more efficiently?
Regards, --Elya (talk) 18:20, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh no, more linkrot. I send them a Tweet, let's see if they respond. We really need to get the internet archive bot up and running here so at least our references keep working..... 21:03, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

Statue in Israel

[edit]

Hi Elya, is this correct? I thought statue was only used when it depicts a person and Skulptur should be used for non-figurative things. Multichill (talk) 15:11, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

yes, statue is a sub class of a sculpture, depicting a figure. I cannot find an image of the Rabinowitz environmenta sculpture, so I cannot tell if this sculpture is also a statue, but it does not sound like one. --Elya (talk) 15:29, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yadira Guevara-Prip

[edit]

Hi Elya, it was just from Allociné, a French counterpart of IMDB. I admit I didn't put much thought in it. --Rashinseita (talk) 18:06, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCon 2019

[edit]

Henriette Hirschmann or Henriette Hirschberg

[edit]

You have created Henriette Hirschberg (Q73289333) with the family name (P734) being Hirschmann (Q37495357) and Stolperstein dedicated to Henriette Hirschberg (Q73391893), which is the only reference for the name. However w:de:Liste der Stolpersteine in Wuppertal does not have any occurrence of that name, nor does it state the inscription of the Stolperstein was incorrect. I cannot find any reasons for these discrepancies. Is it just a mistake on your side or am I missing something? -- CamelCaseNick (talk) 17:06, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi CamelCaseNick, of course you are correct. Not sure were this came from, I took the tabular data from de.wp, but I cannot find a reason for *mann instead of *berg. I'll try to fix it. --Elya (talk) 17:44, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I know … I think I parsed the image name … will move that, too. --Elya (talk) 17:45, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Call for participation in the interview study with Wikidata editors

[edit]

Dear Elya,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King’s College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research that develops a personalized recommendation system to suggest Wikidata items for the editors based on their interests and preferences. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I would love to talk with you to know about your current ways to choose the items you work on in Wikidata and understand the factors that might influence such a decision. Your cooperation will give us valuable insights into building a recommender system that can help improve your editing experience.

Participation is completely voluntary. You have the option to withdraw at any time. Your data will be processed under the terms of UK data protection law (including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018). The information and data that you provide will remain confidential; it will only be stored on the password-protected computer of the researchers. We will use the results anonymized (?) to provide insights into the practices of the editors in item selection processes for editing and publish the results of the study to a research venue. If you decide to take part, we will ask you to sign a consent form, and you will be given a copy of this consent form to keep.

If you’re interested in participating and have 15-20 minutes to chat (I promise to keep the time!), please either contact me at kholoudsaa@gmail.com or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmmFHaiB20nK14wrQJgfrA18PtmdagyeRib3xGtvzkdn3Lgw/viewform?usp=sf_link with your choice of the times that work for you.

I’ll follow up with you to figure out what method is the best way for us to connect.

Please contact me using the email mentioned above if you have any questions or require more information about this project.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Regards

Kholoud

Call for participation in a task-based online experiment

[edit]

Dear Elya,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King's College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research, in which I have developed a personalised recommender system that suggests Wikidata items for the editors based on their past edits. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our system based on your previous edits.

Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published to a research venue.

The study will start in late January 2022 or early February 2022, and it should take no more than 30 minutes.

If you agree to participate in this study, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSees9WzFXR0Vl3mHLkZCaByeFHRrBy51kBca53euq9nt3XWog/viewform?usp=sf_link

I will contact you with the link to start the study.

For more information about the study, please read this post: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Kholoudsaa

In case you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me through my mentioned email.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Einladung

[edit]

Hi Elya,
